- In their humanitarian endeavors, Red Cross societies at all levels have always paid special attention to children – the future generation of the country. With the motto "Joining hands – sharing – spreading love," Red Cross societies throughout the province are increasingly affirming their role as a humanitarian bridge, bringing meaningful gifts, both material and spiritual, to the young generation of their homeland.
Ms. Nong Bich Thuan, President of the Provincial Red Cross Society, said: Understanding the disadvantages faced by children in particularly difficult circumstances, in recent times, Red Cross societies at all levels throughout the province have proactively coordinated with the government, social organizations, and businesses inside and outside the province to organize many practical support activities aimed at bringing them care, love, and better living conditions.
Accordingly, recognizing that supporting children with better learning conditions is essential, the various levels of the association have implemented many practical programs to help children attend school. Just since 2024, the association has coordinated the awarding of regular scholarships to nearly 150 children and donated over 30 mobile phones to poor students with high academic achievements, totaling nearly 1 billion VND; it has also facilitated the placement of 54 poor and orphaned students in humanitarian programs and foster care, with a value of nearly 100 million VND… Through these efforts, the association has helped alleviate the economic burden on these children and encouraged them to excel in their studies.
Hoang Kieu Anh, a student in class 2C at Dong Mo Town Primary School No. 2, Chi Lang District, said: "My father passed away nearly a year ago, and my mother works far away, so my three siblings and I live with our elderly grandparents who are no longer able to work. Since the beginning of the 2024-2025 school year, the Red Cross Society of Chi Lang District, in coordination with the E2K Volunteer Group in Hanoi , has provided essential supplies to my family worth 300,000 VND per month. I am very touched because thanks to this, we have more resources and motivation to strive in our studies."
In addition, the Red Cross branches at all levels also pay attention to healthcare and assistance for children in particularly difficult circumstances, ensuring their comprehensive physical and mental development. Through the "Nutrition for Poor and Disabled Children" program, from 2022 to the present, the Red Cross has coordinated the construction of school canteens, provided school nutrition support to two schools in the province, and supported cooking utensils... with a total value of over 1.6 billion VND; coordinated with Bee Media Co., Ltd. to conduct surveys to select subjects for filming the "Vietnamese Family Shelter" program, and to date, 17 students have been selected for filming with a total support cost of over 2.5 billion VND; coordinated the placement of three orphaned children at the Charity and Talent Development Center in Phat Tich commune, Tien Du district, Bac Ninh province...
Along with the above activities, humanitarian models such as: "Helping children continue their education"; "Supporting students during exam season"; "Donating books, notebooks, and new clothes to friends"; "Rice jar of compassion"; "Small projects"; "School milk"... continue to be effectively implemented by all levels of the Red Cross. From 2024 to the present, the total value of activities of these models throughout the province has reached over 1.8 billion VND. Ms. Truong Thi Kim Oanh, President of the Cao Loc District Red Cross Society, said: The "Rice jar of compassion" model is one of the meaningful humanitarian activities maintained at the grassroots level, with each branch collecting an average of 10 million VND or more per year. From 2024 to the present, through this model, more than 100 million VND has been mobilized to donate to students in difficult circumstances, contributing to encouraging and giving them more strength to continue their education.
In addition, the various levels of the association have strengthened coordination in organizing many activities to promote and educate children on life skills. These communication sessions not only focus on theoretical knowledge but also emphasize practical skills in first aid and handling emergencies such as burns, broken arms, nosebleeds, and traffic accidents.
In the coming period, all levels of the association will continue to focus on mobilizing social resources and expanding models to support learning, healthcare, nutrition, and life skills education for disadvantaged children. We believe that with the joint efforts of the entire community, the "Giving Love – Nurturing the Future" journey will continue to spread, contributing to the nurturing of a future generation that is well-rounded, compassionate, and full of aspirations.
