For the first time, the entire country simultaneously held opening ceremonies for all levels of education: at the same time and with the same rituals.
Live broadcast
This year's opening ceremony, in addition to the individual activities of each school, included a joint program organized by the Ministry from 8:00 to 9:30.
The event will be organized by the Ministry of Education and Training and will be broadcast live. Important ceremonies will be included in the general program, such as the flag-raising ceremony and the singing of the national anthem. General Secretary To Lam will deliver a speech and beat the drum to officially open the school year.
Each school's individual programs and activities will start earlier, from 7:00 AM to before 8:00 AM, or continue after the general program ends.
Ms. Tran Thi Hai Yen, principal of Tran Phu High School (Hoan Kiem, Hanoi ), said that a week before the opening day, the school's students had participated in many meaningful activities, mainly to ensure they were in a cheerful and relaxed mood as they entered the new school year.
Meanwhile, Ms. Cao Thanh Nga, principal of Phan Huy Chu High School (Dong Da, Hanoi), said that the school is a connection point in Hanoi with the National Convention Center (where the joint program is being broadcast live), so they had to focus on preparing equipment and internet connections to avoid problems during the opening ceremony.
For this year's special opening ceremony, each school in Hanoi will arrange and organize students differently depending on the grade level and grade. Accordingly, some preschool and primary schools will arrange for younger students to attend the ceremony in their classrooms, watching on television screens. Older students will gather in the schoolyard to watch on LED screens.
According to the leaders of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, after the opening ceremony, schools will not immediately teach students the subject matter but will instead focus on specialized topics such as fire prevention and control, accident and injury prevention, and education on civilized and elegant lifestyles.
No more mess.
No longer cluttered with earth, rocks, and construction materials as before (article "School opening date postponed due to sluggish construction" - Tuoi Tre newspaper, August 20, 2025), the playground of Chu Van An Secondary School in Cau Ong Lanh ward, Ho Chi Minh City, has transformed these days.
A barrier was erected at the end of the yard, separating the schoolyard from the new construction site (including the C boarding area, parking lot, and sports field).
Ms. Than Thi Tuyet Nhung, principal of Chu Van An Secondary School, said: "The renovation of the existing classroom blocks A and B is in its final stages, including connecting the electrical system, fire safety systems, and repairing the restrooms... The contractor has committed to handing over the renovated building before the start of the school year."
According to Ms. Nhung, students at Chu Van An High School started school at the end of August 2025, a few days later than the school start date set by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee. "As for the opening ceremony, we held it at the same time as other schools nationwide."
Following the cultural performance, there will be a welcoming ceremony for the 6th grade students. The principal will give a speech, offering advice and congratulating the students on starting the new school year. At exactly 8:00 AM, our school will connect with the National Convention Center so that students and teachers can watch the special opening ceremony, which coincides with the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Ministry of Education," Ms. Nhung informed.
Similarly, construction at Duc Tri Secondary School in Cau Ong Lanh Ward, Ho Chi Minh City, is also proceeding rapidly. Classrooms and the schoolyard are in the final stages of tiling the floors and completing the doors...
According to the administration of Duc Tri Secondary School, the contractor is expected to hand over the second and third floors, comprising 19 classrooms and the schoolyard area, along with fencing, on September 3rd, to allow the school to prepare for the opening ceremony of the new school year. The contractor is expected to hand over all remaining classrooms on the first floor and ground floor by September 30th.
Ensure equipment and internet connection are working properly.
Thanh An Primary School (Thanh An commune, Ho Chi Minh City) will have a total of 256 students for the 2025-2026 school year. By the afternoon of September 2nd, the school's management board had prepared for the opening ceremony on September 5th, which will consist of both in-person and online events.
"The school has checked the internet connections and equipment to ensure that students, staff, and teachers can participate in the online opening ceremony as if they were attending in person. We had more than 10 days to prepare, so everything is now complete," said Mr. Le Huu Binh, principal of Thanh An Primary School, Ho Chi Minh City.
At To Ky Secondary School in Hoc Mon District, Ho Chi Minh City, preparations for the special opening ceremony on September 5th have been completed. This school has over 2,900 students, so preparing for an online opening ceremony will require more equipment.
Accordingly, the school has signed a contract to rent six large TV screens to be installed in the schoolyard, making it convenient for students, teachers, and staff to watch the opening ceremony online. These TV screens are equipped with transmission devices to ensure that students can watch the ceremony online smoothly and to minimize connection issues.
Many policies have been implemented.
Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son shared that the 2025-2025 academic year marks the 80th anniversary of the education and training sector and will implement four important laws: the Law on Teachers, the Law amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Law on Education, the amended Law on Higher Education, and the amended Law on Vocational Education.
The implementation of newly issued and soon-to-be-issued resolutions such as modernizing education and training, waiving tuition fees for students from preschool to high school, and universalizing preschool education for children aged 3-5 years old...
The 2025-2026 school year will also be a year to evaluate the implementation of the 2018 General Education Program, address shortcomings to improve the quality of teaching and learning, and innovate teaching methods and assessment.

As the only college in the country to have a "live broadcast" location for its first-ever opening ceremony, Cao Thang Technical College had essentially completed all preparations for this major event by the afternoon of September 2nd. Dr. Le Dinh Kha, the school's principal, stated that details such as sound, lighting, and program content had been meticulously prepared by the school and relevant parties to ensure the most perfect ceremony possible.
At Viễn Đông College, preparations for the opening ceremony on September 5th have been completed. Ms. Phan Thị Lệ Thu, the vice principal of the school, said that the ceremony will be organized in a concise manner. On this occasion, the school will award many scholarships to new students, including scholarships covering 100% of the tuition fee for the first semester and scholarships for students from disadvantaged backgrounds.
In addition to the ceremony, the departments will present demonstrations of new technologies that will be applied in teaching in the new academic year, such as VR, AR, or electric cars, so that students can visualize the new equipment they will be learning about in the future. Ms. Thu added that besides the joint ceremony with the Ministry of Education and Training, another event will be organized separately by the school for its new students after they have fully enrolled.
Similarly, Dr. Lam Thanh Hien, Rector of Lac Hong University, said that in recent years, the university has mainly organized the opening ceremony as a festival for new students, usually held at the end of October after they have settled into their studies. During this festival, students participate in many sports and cultural activities, club activities, boosting their morale and motivation for the new academic year. The university also awards scholarships, tuition fee reductions, and surprise gifts to encourage new students. "We don't focus on an overly formal ceremony; we want new students to have many meaningful activities," said Dr. Hien.
