On January 10th and 11th, a delegation from the Command of Naval Region 3 visited and extended New Year greetings to the authorities, people, and officers and soldiers in Con Co Island District (Quang Tri Province) and Ly Son Island District ( Quang Ngai Province ) on the occasion of the Lunar New Year 2025 (Year of the Snake).

Bringing spring to Ly Son Island
On the morning of January 11th, in Ly Son island district, a delegation from the Command of Region 3 of the Navy, led by Colonel Pham Dinh Thanh – Standing Committee member of the Party Committee and Deputy Political Commissar of Region 3 of the Navy – visited and extended New Year greetings to the government, people, and officers and soldiers of Ly Son island district.
At the meeting, Colonel Pham Dinh Thanh expressed his joy at visiting the officers and soldiers of Radar Station 550 and other forces stationed on the island. He emphasized the unity and efforts of the military and people of the island district in overcoming difficulties, contributing to the firm protection of maritime sovereignty .
"Looking back over the past year, Radar Station 550 has carried out its mission amidst complex maritime conditions and harsh weather and climate.
However, the officers and soldiers of Station 550, together with the military and people on the island district, have united and strived to overcome difficulties and challenges, successfully completing their tasks. From there, they have contributed to the firm management and protection of maritime sovereignty and islands, helping our country become a rich and strong nation,” Colonel Pham Dinh Thanh shared.
Mr. Ngo Dinh Man, Permanent Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ly Son District, thanked the delegation for visiting and presenting gifts to the officials, soldiers, and people of Ly Son island district.
At the same time, they stated that they will continue to promote the spirit of solidarity between the military and the people, uphold the determination to ensure national defense and security, and maintain close coordination between the forces and the officers and soldiers of Radar Station 550.
Also this morning, the delegation visited and offered incense and flowers at the Ly Son District Martyrs' Cemetery and the Monument to the Hoang Sa and Bac Hai Patrol Team, and toured the Hoang Sa and Bac Hai Patrol Team Exhibition House.

The delegation extended New Year greetings to Con Co Island right from the sea.
Earlier, on the morning of January 10th, ship 390 of the 3rd Naval Region was unable to reach Con Co Island ( Quang Tri province) due to bad weather and rough seas.
The delegation from the Command of Naval Region 3 had to anchor their ship offshore, use fishing boats to transport gifts to the island, and send New Year greetings to officers and soldiers on Con Co Island via online video link.
On the evening of January 9th, from Da Nang naval port, ship 390 sounded its horn three times to bid farewell to the mainland, cutting through the waves heading towards Con Co island district. At the end of the year, affected by the northeast monsoon, the sea was rough, with large waves crashing against the bow of the ship, sending white foam splashing onto the deck.
After more than 12 hours, ship 390 of the working group from the 3rd Naval Region visited and extended New Year greetings to officers, soldiers, and civilians, as well as other forces on Con Co Island.

At 6:00 AM on January 10th, ship 390, carrying the working group from the 3rd Naval Region, arrived at Con Co Island. However, due to rough seas, the ship was unable to approach the island to disembark the working group.
To ensure the absolute safety of the delegation members and the ship's crew, Colonel Pham Dinh Thanh – Deputy Political Commissar of Naval Region 3 – decided to transfer Tet gifts onto a fishing boat to be taken to the island.
The naval forces had to spend many hours, battling the waves and wind, to load goods and Tet gifts onto the transfer ship and deliver them to the island.
On the ship's deck, the delegation visited and extended New Year greetings to officers, soldiers, and civilians working and living on Con Co Island via online video conferencing.
On behalf of the delegation, Colonel Pham Dinh Thanh – Standing Committee member of the Party Committee, Deputy Political Commissar of the 3rd Naval Region – extended his best wishes to the Party Committee, government, military and people on Con Co island district, and the officers and soldiers of Radar Station 540 under Regiment 351 (3rd Naval Region Command) on the occasion of the Lunar New Year 2025.
The delegation wished the Party Committee, government, military, and people of Con Co island district to continue to uphold the spirit of unity, better fulfill their assigned roles, responsibilities, and tasks, maintain peace in the sacred sea and islands of the Fatherland, and build Con Co island district into an increasingly developed area.
On behalf of the Party Committee, the government, the officers, soldiers, and people of the locality, the Secretary of the District Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Committee of Con Co District, Vo Viet Cuong, expressed gratitude for the attention of the Party Committee, the Command of the 3rd Naval Region, agencies, organizations, units, localities, and businesses that have shown concern, offered New Year greetings, encouragement, and presented gifts to the military and people of the island district.
