Take the children to the stream to practice swimming.
In the early days of summer, many swimming pools in Nghe An province are filled with a lively atmosphere of learning. Instead of spontaneous playtime at ponds and lakes, which carries many potential risks, children are participating in free swimming lessons under the guidance of physical education teachers, youth union members, police officers, and volunteers. During these swimming lessons, the children are also equipped with skills in preventing drowning and providing basic first aid.
In Huu Kiem mountainous commune (Nghe An province), the Youth Union, in coordination with the commune's police, organized a campaign to raise awareness about drowning prevention among young people in Dinh Son 1 village. This is one of the practical activities in the commune's 2026 summer activities.

In addition to teaching swimming skills, police officers and Youth Union officials directly took the children to the stream to identify potential dangers in the water. There, they were guided on how to observe the terrain, recognize deep water areas, dangerous currents, and situations that could lead to drowning accidents. This method of education helped the children remember and learn more easily. Because of the local area's many forests, mountains, and streams, instructing the children right at the stream was the most effective approach.

Although it wasn't their first time swimming in the stream, the children's faces were full of excitement. Unlike previous occasions when they spontaneously went to the stream to cool off and swim, this time these children learned swimming skills under the guidance and supervision of professionals.
In addition, the children practiced basic skills for emergencies in the water, self-rescue techniques, and how to seek help if they were in danger. Teaching and guiding the children directly in the stream made it easier for them to learn, resulting in a more effective lesson.
Working together to teach children to swim.
During the hot summer days, the mobile swimming pool at Thanh Son Primary School in Thanh Binh Tho commune has become a familiar destination for many students in the area. For many young children, this is the first time they have learned to swim properly right in their own neighborhood.
Just a few years ago, learning to swim was not easy for many students here. Parents who wanted their children to be equipped with water safety skills had to take them to the district center to attend commercial swimming classes. The long distance, travel costs, and time spent commuting made it difficult for many families, despite recognizing the importance of swimming, to consistently enroll their children in classes.

Therefore, when the locality receives investment support for a swimming pool, the children have more places to play during the summer . Having a swimming pool right in the locality not only creates more playgrounds for students but, more importantly, helps them acquire water safety skills, which are essential for children in rural and mountainous areas.
In Thuan Trung commune, since the beginning of summer, the Youth Union, in coordination with the commune's police, has organized training on drowning prevention and provided basic first aid skills to children in case of water accidents. At the same time, the units have conducted surveys and placed warning signs in deep water areas with potential safety risks to prevent accidents early on.

Meanwhile, in Tan Mai ward (Nghe An province), local youth also launched the Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign by coordinating with organizations to open swimming classes and train children in drowning prevention skills.
Through swimming lessons, children develop discipline, self-confidence, problem-solving skills, and a spirit of mutual support. In addition, these classes create a healthy recreational environment during the summer, helping to reduce children's excessive use of electronic devices or participation in activities with potential safety risks.
As a parent of three young children, Ms. Ho Thi Thanh (35 years old) highly appreciates the free swimming lessons for children. She shared: "This is a very practical activity during the summer, not only helping children learn to swim and gain more skills in preventing and responding to drowning, but also providing an environment for them to improve their health and self-confidence. We parents feel very reassured when our children participate in meaningful activities like this."
In the context of prolonged hot weather, the risk of drowning accidents among children is always present. Free swimming lessons have met the practical needs of many families, creating a healthy playground and a beneficial environment for children during the summer. Not only do these classes provide practical benefits for children, but they also spread a spirit of community responsibility, sharing, and compassion in society. This meaningful activity contributes to building a safe and friendly living environment for children.
