(BLC) – Determining that the protection, care and education of children is important for the future generations of the country, in recent years, all levels and branches in the province have organized many specific and practical activities. Thereby, creating favorable conditions and environment for children to study and play, ensuring basic rights for comprehensive development.
Comrade Nguyen Thi Thuy - Deputy Director of the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs (LOL, Invalids and Social Affairs) assessed: The work of child protection, care and education in the province has always received the attention of implementation from all levels and sectors; awareness and responsibility of families, schools, communities and society for child protection and care is increasingly being raised. Therefore, many charity activities and charity movements to help children are increasingly diversified and bring practical effects.
Along with that, the work of health care and nutrition for children has been significantly improved, especially improving the physical and mental health of disadvantaged children, children in remote and extremely difficult areas. The number of schools meeting national standards and the proportion of children attending school at the right age is increasing; focus on building a safe and healthy living environment for children; The material, cultural and spiritual life and rights for children are increasingly guaranteed. It can be seen that children in the province are basically cared for and taken care of in all aspects for their physical and mental development.
Children in the province are created a learning and playing environment to develop comprehensively.
However, the protection, care and education of children still have difficulties. In particular, investment resources for child care and protection are limited. In the province, there is a lack of amusement spots and forms of entertainment suitable for children; the group of children at risk of falling into special circumstances still has a high potential; awareness of parents in remote areas is still low, they do not know how to protect and take care of their children; The attention and care of some parents is not regular due to busy work or many other reasons leading to the situation of children breaking the law, accidents, injuries, drowning, children dropping out of school, children being sexually abused, being violent... still quite common.
Our province currently has nearly 170.000 children from 0 to 16 years old. In which, more than 2.000 children have special circumstances; nearly 83.000 children are at risk of falling into special circumstances. To do a good job of caring for children, the Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs has implemented synchronous solutions. In which, promoting the socialization of children's activities in the direction of raising the responsibility of families, schools, residential communities and socio-political organizations; mobilize contributions from domestic and foreign enterprises, organizations and individuals to children's work. Effective use of resources invested in children; strengthen the activities of the Children's Protection Fund, the study promotion fund at all levels, especially the prevention, early intervention detection and care for children with special circumstances based on the community.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy - Deputy Director of the Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs added: In order to well perform the work of caring for children, the sector actively implements social security policies and social welfare programs; giving priority to groups of children with special circumstances and at risk of falling into special circumstances, children in remote and isolated areas, and ethnic minority areas. Launch an emulation movement to build a safe and child-friendly environment. Every year, organize forums, children's rights clubs, create conditions and environments for children to participate and contribute to issues related to them.
Along with that, the sector also strengthens the inspection, monitoring, supervision and evaluation of the results of performing tasks on children; advise competent authorities to strictly handle organizations and individuals that abuse and violence against children and seriously violate children's rights.
Localities in the province organize many playgrounds to help children develop healthy.
Thanks to the synchronous implementation of solutions, children's education and health care have been significantly improved, cultural and spiritual life, entertainment, social welfare and children's rights have been increasingly enhanced. Highlights such as: the rate of preschool children going to school in the school year 2022-2023 reaches 99,8%; the rate of pupils of primary school age going to school reached 99,9%; the rate of students of lower secondary school age going to school reached 94,3%. The rate of underweight children under 5 years old decreased to 17,8%; children under 6 years old are granted health insurance cards and receive the best medical examination and treatment at public health facilities; 100% of children found to be HIV positive are provided with free counseling and treatment services. From 2012 to now, more than 1.200 children with disabilities of all kinds have operated on…
With effective and practical actions, the protection and care of children in the province has achieved many positive results, contributing to the realization of the goal of "Children today, the world tomorrow".
