Tien Giang province currently has thousands of impoverished and severely ill victims of Agent Orange, who face the daily suffering caused by the disease and desperately need the support of the community and society. To date, the Agent Orange Victims Associations at all levels in the province have surveyed 11,493 victims; of which, 1,693 are war veterans and 9,800 are civilians.
Victims of Agent Orange not only suffer physical pain but also face isolation from the community. Some babies are born unable to smile or call their parents by name; some young people cannot walk or attend school like other people. Their lives are entirely dependent on relatives, becoming a burden to their families and society.
As a socio-charitable organization, the Association of Victims of Agent Orange in Tien Giang province has become an important "bridge" in the humanitarian journey of caring for and helping victims of Agent Orange overcome difficulties, illnesses, and rise up in life. With the motto "No victim of Agent Orange is left behind," the Association has effectively implemented many activities to care for victims of Agent Orange and other individuals with disabilities and serious illnesses. The Association's main programs include: mobilizing resources to build charitable houses; supporting livelihoods for victims of Agent Orange and poor households; awarding scholarships to support students who are victims of Agent Orange; and providing healthcare for victims of Agent Orange.

The activities of the Tien Giang Provincial Association of Victims of Agent Orange in caring for its members have received support and cooperation from all levels of government, the Fatherland Front, mass organizations, and socio-political organizations in Tien Giang province, as well as units, businesses, organizations, and individuals inside and outside the province. The success of these activities lies in their practicality and effectiveness for each individual victim of Agent Orange who receives support. Each level of the Association in the province organizes support activities in a way that is appropriate and closely aligned with the circumstances of the victims. Accordingly, in the first six months of 2025, the provincial Association of Victims of Agent Orange focused on mobilizing and distributing 23,791 gifts; 25 cash grants; building 6 houses; and providing 1 ton of rice… to victims of Agent Orange with particularly difficult circumstances and serious illnesses.
Ms. Tran Thi Quy Mao, Chairwoman of the Association of Victims of Agent Orange in Tien Giang province, shared: “Through activities caring for victims of Agent Orange, we hope to spread the message that ‘Every citizen is an extension of compassion. Every act of care, however small, contributes to supporting those less fortunate.’”
Furthermore, the provincial-level Association of Victims of Agent Orange not only focuses on caring for the lives of victims but also actively propagates and mobilizes cadres and members to effectively implement the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's laws and regulations, and the Association's tasks. They raise awareness about the Agent Orange disaster, highlighting the role of all levels, sectors, and people in all walks of life in jointly alleviating the suffering caused by Agent Orange; and promptly understand the concerns and protect the rights of Agent Orange victims. The Association also directs its grassroots branches to maintain good practices in visiting sick victims and providing mutual assistance during difficult times.
Furthermore, the Provincial Association of Victims of Agent Orange has effectively implemented policies for victims of Agent Orange, especially severely ill and orphaned children. The Association continues to promote the study and emulation of Ho Chi Minh's ideology, ethics, and style; and strengthens widespread propaganda and mobilization throughout society to uphold the spirit of "mutual support and compassion," working together to help victims of Agent Orange. This spreads love, connects the community to participate in caring for and creating favorable conditions for victims of Agent Orange to overcome difficulties and integrate into society.
