People in Hoa An commune (Chiem Hoa district) are converting low-yield rice fields to chili pepper cultivation, which generates higher income.
Of these, Chiêm Hóa district has the most with over 246 hectares, followed by Hàm Yên district with over 138 hectares, Lâm Bình with 123.7 hectares; Sơn Dương, Yên Sơn districts and Tuyên Quang city each have between 60-88 hectares.
These are areas of low-yield rice cultivation; converting them to other crops will effectively utilize land resources for production. Local authorities will monitor the conversion of crop structures on rice-growing land to ensure compliance with planning, land use purposes, and the selection of suitable crops for production.
The conversion is implemented based on the principle of not losing the suitable conditions for resuming rice cultivation, aligning with the local crop structure, and achieving higher economic efficiency.
