This is a component of the European Union's (EU)-funded "Women-led Green Transformation Partnership" program. The PWG project, implemented by Oxfam Vietnam, is expected to fund 65 initiatives over a period of 54 months, from 2024 to 2029.
Each initiative can receive up to VND 1.65 billion (equivalent to EUR 60,000), with an implementation period of 12 to 18 months, in one or more provinces including Lao Cai , Yen Bai, Quang Nam, Bac Lieu and Hue city. The first funding round focuses on the theme: "Raising awareness, contributing to improving green livelihoods, access to decent work and enhancing women's participation in contributing opinions to the development and refinement of policies on climate change response, disaster risk reduction and environmental protection."

Mr. Pham Quang Tu, Deputy Country Director of Oxfam in Vietnam, shared: "Responding to climate change while promoting gender equality in Vietnam still faces many challenges. In particular, the participation of women in decision-making and action for a green economy is essential, as women are the main workforce in both the formal and informal sectors. However, for them to actively participate in the green transition, a process requiring new knowledge and skills, support and facilitation from stakeholders are necessary. The PWG project contributes to promoting this goal through extensive consultations with local authorities and women's communities, ensuring that the project content aligns with the policies and guidelines of the Vietnamese government, as well as the practices and needs of local authorities and people."
PWG will support networking and capacity building for grant recipient organizations in areas such as gender equality, climate adaptation, and sustainable production. The project also promotes public-private partnerships to enhance access to finance for women-owned businesses, contributing to green job creation and empowering women in development.
