Development milestones

Despite facing numerous difficulties and other unfavorable factors, Que Son's economy still achieved impressive growth in 2024. It is estimated that the total value of production for the year reached 10,894.6 billion VND, an increase of 12.09% compared to 2023.

Of this, the value of agriculture, forestry, and fisheries is estimated at VND 1,405.7 billion, an increase of 3.86%; industry, handicrafts, and construction is estimated at VND 6,328 billion, an increase of 13.12%; and trade and services reached over VND 3,160 billion, an increase of 13.31%. Total state budget revenue in 2024 is estimated at VND 1,195 billion, exceeding the provincial budget target by 52.3%.

Mr. Nguyen Van Thang , Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Que Son district, said that thanks to the booming economy and the local government's active implementation of social welfare policies, the lives of the people have continued to improve in recent times.

In 2024, the average per capita income in Que Son reached 53.11 million VND, an increase of 1.11 million VND compared to the target set by the District People's Council resolution. Last year, the entire district reduced the number of poor households by 103 compared to 2023, while the District People's Council resolution set a target of reducing 50 poor households.

Recognizing that building new rural areas has a starting point but no end point, the entire political system of Que Son has continued to effectively implement many tasks to create a strong transformation.

According to Mr. Nguyen Minh Chau, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Que Son district, in addition to building Dong Phu and Huong An towns to meet 7 out of 9 criteria for civilized urban areas, an increase of 2 criteria compared to 2023, by the end of 2024, the average number of new rural criteria met by communes in the district will be 18.7 criteria/commune.

Over 60 booths displayed and introduced typical and distinctive OCOP products and rural industrial products in Que Son.(QNO) – This morning, March 25th, the Department of Industry and Trade and the People's Committee of Que Son district jointly organized the opening ceremony of the trade connection program between businesses, cooperatives, production and business establishments of OCOP products, typical rural industrial products, and characteristic products of Quang Nam province with export businesses and trade promotion organizations at 26/3 Square (Dong Phu town, Que Son).

By the end of 2024, Que Son district had 9 out of 11 communes meeting the standards of New Rural Communes, with the remaining 2 communes, Que Phong and Que Thuan, preparing documentation to request recognition from competent authorities as meeting the New Rural Commune standards in 2024; 3 communes met the advanced New Rural Commune standards: Que Xuan 1, Que Xuan 2, and Que Hiep; and Que Phu commune met the standards of a model New Rural Commune.

“Regarding the construction of the new rural district model, Que Son has so far achieved 6 out of 9 criteria as prescribed, including: planning, irrigation and disaster prevention, electricity, economy, political system - security and order - public administration, and quality of living environment. In addition, implementing the OCOP program, the entire district currently has 25 products recognized as achieving OCOP 3-star and 4-star standards,” Mr. Chau said.

By 2025, Que Son district aims for a total economic output value increase of 12% or more; specifically, a 3% increase in agriculture, forestry, and fisheries; a 13% increase in industry, handicrafts, and construction; and a 13% increase in trade and services. Economic revenue is projected to increase by 7% or more compared to the provincial plan. Total social investment capital will account for 10% or more of the total output value. By the end of 2025, Que Son will achieve the status of a New Rural District...

Create a new breakthrough.

According to Mr. Nguyen Minh Chau, in 2025, Que Son will focus on developing agriculture and rural areas in a sustainable direction; attracting businesses to invest in rural areas, especially in high-tech agriculture, linking along the value chain, and consuming products, with product outlets as a breakthrough.

Promote the development of livestock farming models towards concentrated farms and family farms. Focus on developing forestry economics, effectively implementing reforestation projects and replicating effective garden and farm economic models.

Regarding the New Rural Development program, Que Son strives to maintain and improve the quality of the criteria already achieved, prioritizing resources to complete the criteria for a New Rural District.

Focus on building infrastructure systems, closely linking the construction of new rural areas with the urbanization process. Promote the implementation of the One Commune One Product (OCOP) program, especially focusing on brand building, boosting product consumption, and developing agricultural and rural tourism.

According to Mr. Nguyen Van Thang, alongside economic development, the locality will focus on improving the quality of the movement for national solidarity in building a cultured life; promoting socialization, paying attention to investing in the construction and completion of grassroots cultural and sports facilities; effectively implementing and reaping many rewards in the 2024-2025 school year; and improving the capacity and efficiency of the grassroots health system and the quality of medical examination and treatment for the people.

"In 2025, Que Son district will strive to effectively implement policies and regulations for poor households, near-poor households, people with meritorious services to the revolution, and social welfare beneficiaries, ensuring that people's lives become increasingly prosperous and happy," Mr. Thang said.
