President Ho Chi Minh always affirmed that national unity is a strategically important issue, decisive for the success of the revolution. For the revolution to succeed, it must have a sufficiently strong force to defeat the enemy and build a new society. Building domestic strength plays a decisive role: "To liberate ourselves." According to him, to have strength, we must be united because "Unity is an invincible force." Therefore, President Ho Chi Minh advocated for broad, close, and lasting unity of the entire nation into a single unified bloc.

Ho Chi Minh's thought on national unity has strategic significance. It is a fundamental, consistent, and enduring ideology throughout the revolutionary process. It is a strategy to gather all possible forces to form the immense strength of the entire nation in the struggle against the enemy and in building a new society. Therefore, President Ho Chi Minh instructed all Party members and cadres, especially those assigned to work in mass mobilization and the Fatherland Front, that to achieve national unity, they must inherit the patriotic and humane traditions of their ancestors and possess tolerance and magnanimity towards people.

"I advise my compatriots to unite closely and broadly; even the five fingers have short and long ones. But short and long fingers come together in the hand. Among tens of millions of people, there are those who are like this and those who are like that, but whether like this or like that, we are all descendants of our ancestors. Therefore, we must be tolerant and magnanimous; we must recognize that: As descendants of Lac and Hong, everyone has some degree of patriotism. Towards those compatriots who have gone astray, we must use love and compassion to win them over. Only in this way can we achieve unity, and with unity, the future will surely be glorious."

President Ho Chi Minh's tolerance and magnanimity attracted countless intellectuals, landowners, merchants, national capitalists, overseas Vietnamese, religious leaders, and prominent figures from various ethnic groups to him and follow him in the resistance against French colonialism and American imperialism until the day of complete victory.

A great initiative and a significant contribution of President Ho Chi Minh and our Party to our nation and to the oppressed peoples of the world was the proposal to establish the National United Front. On November 18, 1930, the Standing Committee of the Central Party Committee issued a directive to establish the Anti-Imperialist Alliance - the first organizational form of the Vietnamese National United Front.

Ninety-four years have passed since the founding of the Anti-Imperialist Alliance. Under the correct leadership of the Party, various forms of organizations with different names have successively emerged, meeting the requirements and tasks of each revolutionary period. These include the Indochinese Democratic Front (1936-1938), the Indochinese Anti-Imperialist National United Front (1939), the Viet Minh Front (1941), the Vietnam National Union (1946), the Lien Viet Front (1951), the Vietnam Fatherland Front (1955), the National Liberation Front of South Vietnam (1960), the Alliance of National, Democratic and Peaceful Forces of Vietnam (1968), and the Vietnam Fatherland Front (1977). Time will pass, but the glorious history of the National United Front will forever be linked to the glorious history of the Party and the nation.

These include the victory of the August Revolution (1945), the Dien Bien Phu victory (1954), the great Spring victory (1975), and other very important achievements in the renovation process that have lifted our country out of socio-economic crisis and enabled our people to steadily advance on the path of socialism, affirming that "Our country has never before had such a foundation, potential, position, and international prestige as it does today."

The Vietnam National United Front, established at the initiative of President Ho Chi Minh and under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, has made immense contributions to the cause of national unity, a factor ensuring the victory of the Vietnamese revolution and contributing to new milestones in the nation's history.

Guided by Ho Chi Minh's ideology on national unity, the Vietnam Fatherland Front today advocates promoting the tradition of patriotism, national pride, self-reliance, and self-strengthening, uniting all Vietnamese people at home and abroad, regardless of social class, ethnicity, religion, beliefs, past, ideology, and political views, as long as they support the reform process aimed at maintaining national independence, unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, successfully implementing the cause of industrialization and modernization of the country for a prosperous, strong, democratic, just, and civilized nation, fulfilling President Ho Chi Minh's testament: "To build a peaceful, unified, independent, democratic, and prosperous Vietnam," and actively contributing to peace, democracy, and social progress in the world.

Based on the functions and tasks defined in the Platform for Building the Country during the Transition Period to Socialism (supplemented and developed), in the 2013 Constitution and the Law on the Vietnam Fatherland Front, in the Resolution of the 13th National Congress of the Party, stemming from the international context and the domestic situation as well as the urgent demands of the people, on the basis of the achievements and limitations and weaknesses over the past 5 years of implementing the Resolution of the 9th National Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (2019-2024 term), the 10th National Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front focuses on discussing solutions to better fulfill its core political role in implementing national unity at a new level and depth so that the people truly become masters, with specific tasks:

Firstly, the Vietnam Fatherland Front at all levels needs to continue to strengthen propaganda work to raise awareness among the entire political system and the whole population about the patriotic tradition, national spirit, and the tradition of national unity, as well as the position, role, and importance of the strength of national unity in building and protecting the socialist Vietnamese Fatherland.

Secondly, strengthen coordination between the Fatherland Front and the government at all levels in promoting the people's right to self-governance and in participating in building a clean and strong Party and political system.

Thirdly, continue to promote the initiative, creativity, and material and spiritual strength of the people through patriotic emulation movements and campaigns, aiming to build a prosperous and happy life for families and a thriving and powerful society.

Fourth, closely coordinate with authorities at all levels to effectively implement the Party's directives and resolutions, and the State's policies and laws on ethnic groups and religions; promote the role of exemplary individuals from ethnic groups and religions in mobilizing ethnic and religious communities to effectively implement the Party and State's guidelines, policies, and laws; actively participate in patriotic emulation movements; and refute the false narratives of hostile forces aiming to divide national unity.

Fifth, innovate the organization, structure, content, and methods of operation; enhance the responsibility of the Front's cadres and political and social organizations; and focus strongly on the grassroots and residential areas. Effectively perform the role of social supervision and criticism; improve the quality of democratic consultation, coordination, and unified action among member organizations.

And we must deeply understand President Ho Chi Minh's teaching: "With the people, we have everything."

"

To translate the action programs set forth by the 10th National Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front into reality, the Fatherland Front Committees at all levels must be dynamic, creative, and proactive in coordinating with the local government, leveraging the guidance of the Party committees, and promoting and mobilizing the entire population to participate.
