For the first time at the Provincial Multi-Purpose Gymnasium , a sports festival attracted nearly 400 participants from across the province, all with a unique mindset: meeting each other on their own special day. The athletes were officials, civil servants, and employees from 22 agencies, units, federations, associations, and sports clubs from districts, towns, and cities. Participating athletes competed in the following sports: tug-of-war, mixed doubles sack race, badminton, and 5-a-side football.
Mr. Huynh Ngoc Tam - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism , Head of the Organizing Committee, emphasized: "This year's Sports Festival of the Culture, Sports and Tourism sector is a practical activity to celebrate the 78th anniversary of Vietnam Sports Day, and at the same time continue to maintain and develop the physical education and sports movement throughout the sector to contribute to promoting the 'National Movement for Physical Training Following the Example of the Great President Ho Chi Minh'."
The sports festival included tug-of-war , mixed doubles sack race , 5-a-side football, and badminton . Although it was an internal event, it fostered a sense of unity within the industry, promoting camaraderie, shared experiences, and mutual development. However, why has the industry only now organized a proper "sports festival" with all the necessary elements and a name like "the first"? In reality, the culture and sports sector organizes activities to celebrate its traditional anniversary every year, but these are usually internal events. A sports festival like this should have been organized much earlier, not just now. Meanwhile, in some sectors and localities, it has become a traditional sports festival.
Although it's a sports event for a specific sector, and the network of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism is actually very large and has great potential, due to the competitive nature and the unseen pressures, quite a few member units were "unfamiliar" with the format. Some units even sent their students to compete, even though they were still school-aged children...
The first Sports Festival of the Culture, Sports and Tourism sector in 2024, with its grand scale and multi-day organization, attracted a large number of officials and employees, representing the sector's efforts, albeit somewhat late compared to other countries. From here, the connection and support will help the Culture, Sports and Tourism sector develop "faster, higher, and stronger together," as envisioned in today's event.
