Clean produce sells out as soon as it's made.
Following the administrative reorganization policy, the new Tan Ky commune (Hai Phong) was formed by merging the communes of Tan Ky, Dan An, Dai Hop, Ky Son, and a part of Hung Dao commune. With a natural area of over 27.7 km² and a population of over 38,000 people, the locality possesses significant potential for developing agriculture in a modern, large-scale, and sustainable manner.
Mr. Nguyen Xuan Cuong, Chairman of the People's Committee of Tan Ky commune ( Hai Phong ), said that although industry and services have not yet developed strongly, Tan Ky has a very good agricultural foundation, with people closely connected to the fields, rich in production experience, and always passionate about farming.
"Tan Ky is still primarily an agricultural area. The people are hardworking, have a lot of production experience, and are very dedicated to agriculture," Mr. Cuong shared.

Aquaculture is considered a sector with significant potential and outstanding advantages. With large-scale farming and the bold application of technology, Tan Ky is gradually becoming one of the leading high-tech aquaculture areas in the western Hai Phong region. Local leaders affirm that developing aquaculture in a safe manner and applying scientific and technical advancements is opening up significant opportunities to enhance product value and gradually build a unique brand for Tan Ky's seafood.
Besides aquaculture, the locality has also developed many agricultural models applying technology, such as greenhouses and net houses for producing clean vegetables, pigeon breeding models using herbal feed, and safe agricultural product production areas.
Currently, Tan Ky has about 10,000 m² of greenhouses and net houses serving high-tech agricultural production. The good news, according to Mr. Cuong, is that clean agricultural products are now being positively received by the market.
"Currently, clean agricultural products are very well received by the market; almost everything produced is sold immediately. This shows that consumers are increasingly interested in safe agricultural products," Mr. Cuong shared.
However, agriculture in Tan Ky is still facing many difficulties as input prices continue to rise, from animal feed and breeding stock to electricity, gasoline, and other production costs, while the output prices of many agricultural products have fallen sharply.
The ultimate goal of agriculture remains human health.
What the leaders of Tan Ky commune are currently concerned about is not just expanding the scale of production, but how to create a unique brand and a distinct position for local agricultural products in the market.
"From the moment I took up my post in the commune, I've always been deeply concerned about how to build a unique brand for Tan Ky's agricultural products, so that these products are not only known domestically but can also reach further afield," Mr. Cuong confided.

According to him, to build a brand, the first thing to achieve is having clean, safe, and high-quality products that are well-received by the people. This is also the overarching direction that the locality is pursuing in the process of planning agricultural development in the coming time.
"First and foremost, agricultural products in Tan Ky must ensure safety, minimizing the use of banned substances and pesticides of unknown origin. Because the ultimate goal of agriculture is still human health," Mr. Cuong emphasized.
In the long term, the locality aims to plan for safe production zones, creating products that are distinct from those of many other localities. Among these, aquaculture continues to be identified as a key sector.
Currently, the main farmed products are still traditional fish such as grass carp, common carp, tilapia, and silver carp. However, according to Mr. Cuong, Tan Ky does not want to stop at mass production but aims for more distinctive, higher-quality products.
"We aspire to have products that are uniquely Tân Kỳ, more distinctive, and of higher quality," he said.

Furthermore, what the commune leader is "planning" is to gradually form a closed production chain for the local fisheries industry, from animal feed to deep processing, in order to increase the value of the products.
"Our expectation is to be able to build a feed production plant specifically for local aquaculture products. At the same time, we aim to establish a processing plant to increase the value of Tan Ky's agricultural products," Mr. Cuong shared.
According to the leaders of Tan Ky commune, after the merger, the locality has many advantages in terms of land, transportation, and development potential. This will be the foundation for the commune to gradually upgrade its agriculture in the future.
“The opportunities are excellent. Tan Ky has land, transportation, and potential; I believe it can be done. The two levels of government have only recently merged, so we are currently harboring many plans for local agriculture,” Mr. Cuong said.
Following the merger, a new Tan Ky is gradually taking shape, not only in its administrative appearance but also in its agricultural development mindset. From high-tech aquaculture areas and greenhouses producing clean agricultural products to the aspiration of building its own brand for local agricultural products, the area is gradually finding a different path for its agriculture.
These plans may still be in the "nurturing" stage, but with the existing foundation and a determination to innovate production thinking, Tan Ky is hoping to gradually build a modern, green, and distinctive agricultural sector.
Mr. Nguyen Xuan Cuong, Chairman of the People's Committee of Tan Ky commune (Hai Phong), said: "Agriculture will find it very difficult to break through if it doesn't create differentiation and build a brand. To go the distance, Tan Ky's agriculture must aim for clean, safe, high-quality products with its own unique characteristics. That is also the journey we are persistently pursuing."
