In the evening, when exercising vigorously, the girl felt a sharp pain due to the needle piercing her body. After that, the young couple went to a lower level hospital for examination. Here, the doctors pricked the skin but did not find a foreign body.
On the morning of May 22.5, the couple went to Hospital E (Hanoi). Specialist 2 Kieu Quoc Hien, Head of Orthopedic Surgery Department (Hospital E), said that the patient was admitted to the hospital with severe pain in the left buttock area.
The doctor examined the skin and found that there was a skin prick about 5 cm long that had been treated and closed; The patient is in a state of pain in the buttocks, especially when exercising vigorously.
Taking the history, the patient was suspected of sitting on a 5 cm long sewing needle. However, because the patient is pregnant, she cannot be exposed to X-rays, so doctors consider ordering X-rays to locate the foreign body.
After consulting with the doctors of the Department of Diagnostic Imaging (Hospital E), the patient was put on a lead shirt, taking a separate picture of the left buttock to accurately identify the foreign body.
With the confirmed scan results, doctor Kieu Quoc Hien and his colleagues removed the foreign body for the girl. After 5 minutes of anaesthesia, the foreign body, a 5 cm long suture needle, was removed from the girl's gluteal muscle.
Hien said, this is not a difficult case, but the level of danger is serious, because once the needle enters the body, it can move everywhere, even into the heart, lungs, abdomen ...
In addition, the patient is pregnant, the appointment of X-rays should be careful, which may affect the fetus.
Doctor Hien recommends that, if you are unfortunate enough to be pierced by a sharp object and enter your body such as a sewing needle, needle, etc., you should immediately go to a medical facility with full medical equipment and a specialist to intervene and remove the foreign body as quickly as possible.
In addition, the patient should not use folk remedies or arbitrarily remove the foreign body, this may cause the foreign body to penetrate deeper, difficult to handle or dangerous.
