There are some literature classes... that are very different.

Teaching literature in recent years has been very different from before, with a complete change in both teaching and learning methods.

The one-way teaching method in literature classes, where the teacher speaks and the students listen, or the teacher lectures/reads and the students take notes, is gradually being eliminated. Instead, the focus is on promoting interaction between students and teachers, and among students themselves; strengthening speaking skills alongside the writing skills inherent in literature; placing students at the center of teaching and learning activities; and changing assessment methods.

It's not just about studying literature.

Since the implementation of the 2018 General Education Program, the teaching of literature has undergone a significant transformation. A noticeable change is that students are now taught a wider variety of text types (the previous program mainly focused on literary and artistic texts), and their reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills are being enhanced. The most recent and pressing issue is the use of new texts in tests and assessments that students haven't studied or that aren't included in textbooks.

Attending demonstration lessons in the subject cluster of teachers from many schools, I clearly saw many new and interesting aspects in literature lessons... For example, with the lesson on the author Nguyen Du and the work *Truyen Kieu* (11th grade literature), Ms. Nguyen Thi Vu Hue (teacher at Phu Nhuan High School, Phu Nhuan District, Ho Chi Minh City) "unveiled" a grand literary project "Awakening *Truyen Kieu*, fostering a love for literature".

The highlight of the project presentation was the activities (by 7 student groups) presented in various forms such as: Surveying and researching students' interest in medieval literature and the Tale of Kieu ; Creating everyday products (calendars, comics, stamps, t-shirts, posters, etc.) inspired by the Tale of Kieu ; Comparing and contrasting characters in Nguyen Du's Tale of Kieu with characters in Thanh Tam Tai Nhan's Kim Van Kieu story ; Performing dramatizations of excerpts from the Tale of Kieu and introducing some games... Ms. Nguyen Thi Vu Hue said: "This is a way to help students further appreciate the Tale of Kieu and become aware of the immortal works of their ancestors through the study of literature."

Bringing life experiences into STEM education classes...

In early November, Ms. Le Thi Duyen (literature teacher at Tran Phu High School, Tan Phu District, Ho Chi Minh City) successfully conducted a cluster-level demonstration lesson on "STEM Product Report – Introducing a Work of Art." The lesson combined three student activities: speaking and listening skills; dramatization (students reenacting a scene from the play " Half a Lifetime of Fragrance and Powder "); and the introduction and presentation of the song " A Round Trip Around Vietnam. " This lesson presented a product based on the STEM model (a method of enhancing skills related to four elements: science , technology, engineering, and mathematics). This is a very new teaching approach; those observing the lesson felt like they were attending an art presentation and performance.

Meanwhile, some literature teachers at Tay Thanh High School tend to incorporate real-life experiences into their literature lessons. When teaching the reading section of the text "Floating Market - A Cultural Feature of the Western Mekong Delta" (an informational text) in 10th grade, Ms. Truong Tuyet Loan had the initiative to assign students in groups to recreate the atmosphere of a floating market right in the classroom. As a result, the classroom atmosphere became very lively and cheerful; the students had the opportunity to showcase their skills in preparing and arranging their creations.

For example, Ms. Tran Thi Dung from Tay Thanh High School, in a lesson on descriptive writing in 11th grade, combined it with a STEM project presentation. Accordingly, she encouraged students to create very "eye-catching" products that could be applied in real life, such as dishes, very stylish handbags, and other trendy items.
