National flag in the neighborhood

Việt NamViệt Nam18/01/2025

The neighborhood where I live has many households from different economic backgrounds and with different perspectives, so the way families display the national flag during holidays and festivals also varies.

National flag in the neighborhood

Regarding the display of the national flag, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has issued specific regulations. However, in reality, the display of the national flag is currently being done very naturally by some people in various neighborhoods. Some say that the homeland is in the heart, and how to display the national flag depends on the circumstances of each person and each household; the issue should not be overemphasized.

Nearly a decade ago, the neighborhood used to collect money to buy flags and flagpoles of the same size, and families would plant the national flag in front of their houses in the designated spots. However, the flagpole spots gradually became covered with sediment, the flagpoles were damaged or lost, and many families bought new flags. Almost no one paid attention to the uniformity of size and placement anymore. So, some flags in the neighborhood are hung on the second or third floor, while others are planted right on the curb in front of their houses, below where garbage is collected. Some flags are even hung on tree branches… And some families keep the national flag year-round, not replacing it even when the colors fade or it gets torn. They are still national flags, but the sense of solemnity and reverence is somewhat diminished.

Displaying the national flag is an expression of patriotism and national pride for every Vietnamese person. Therefore, choosing the location to hang and display the flag, while seemingly simple, is extremely important and cannot be done arbitrarily. Instead of simply placing flags wherever convenient, ensuring aesthetic appeal is crucial before displaying or displaying the flag. Many neighborhoods in Thanh Hoa City have created uniform flag-lined streets. This is very commendable, but it is even more important that after a certain period, the neighborhood organizes the tidying up of flagpoles and the placement of flags in front of each house, reminding families to display the flag according to regulations. Don't be afraid to do small, insignificant things and ignore them.

With the upcoming Lunar New Year (Year of the Snake 2025) and the founding anniversary of the Communist Party, the display of the national flag will follow the general policy. To create beautiful flag displays to welcome the spring, celebrate the Party, and create a joyful atmosphere in residential areas, each family must first truly understand the meaning and value of displaying the national flag. Neighborhood leaders need to inspect and remind residents to comply with the regulations. Only then will the image and sacred meaning of the national flag be further honored.
