The global tech market is witnessing a massive wave of layoffs as hundreds of thousands of programmers, mostly at the junior level, are forced to leave the game. Data from Layoffs.fyi shows that in 2023 and early 2024 alone, more than 300,000 technology jobs were laid off as repetitive tasks were replaced by AI.
In this context, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang sparked controversy by advising Gen Z and Gen Alpha not to focus on learning to code but to concentrate on problem-solving skills. Goldman Sachs also predicts that AI could replace or support up to 300 million full-time jobs globally in the near future.
As tools like ChatGPT or GitHub Copilot can write code faster and more accurately than humans, the value of simply knowing how to program is drastically decreasing. According to the World Economic Forum, analytical thinking, creativity, and logical reasoning are the top priority skills for businesses by 2027. The younger generation needs to learn how to design systems, formulate the right problems, and use AI as a tool, rather than simply executing commands.
In the age of AI, the masters of the future are not the best coders, but those who understand people and can solve real-world problems. Readers are invited to watch the following video : AI-powered trash cleanup | Hanoi, 6:00 PM
