The path of unity in Kien Thiet

For generations, transportation in Kien Thiet commune has been a challenging issue, with roads to the villages crossing numerous streams and steep slopes. However, through social mobilization, the commune's Party committee and government have built "roads of solidarity," concreting rural roads.

The people of Lung Quan village, Kien Thiet commune, are working together to build a rural concrete road.

The rural concrete road, over 120 meters long, leading to the Nặm Bó village kindergarten, was put into use in early August 2025, marking the consensus, unity, and determination of the village officials and organizations, the support of philanthropists, and the collective efforts of the people.

Comrade Ma Van Long, Secretary of the Party branch of Nam Bo village, said: “The village currently has 143 households and over 600 people. The villagers have long desired a new road, but due to a lack of funding, it hasn't been possible. Therefore, when the plan to build a concrete rural road was announced, the village Party branch, in coordination with the Fatherland Front Committee, organized a campaign to encourage the people to contribute. Just one week after launching the initiative, the village had raised over 30 million VND through social mobilization. The completed road has made the village greener, cleaner, and more beautiful.”

In Lung Quan village, a rural concrete solidarity road, over 330 meters long and 3.5 meters wide with an 18cm thick concrete surface, will be completed and put into use this December. Ms. Truong Thi Hang, Head of the Village Front Committee, enthusiastically said: “Upon hearing the news that the village would receive support for road construction, the Front Committee held a meeting and mobilized the villagers to participate. The people responded very enthusiastically, and the spirit of labor over the past few days shows that everyone shares the goal of completing the new road. Especially, in addition to the support from agencies and businesses, the village also mobilized the households of Dang Van Manh, Dang Van Hung, Dang Van Toan, and other villagers to contribute 40 million VND.”

As one of the three households receiving financial support for the rural concrete road construction, Mr. Dang Manh Hung from Lung Quan village said: “This road is very important to our village. Therefore, when the plan to build the road was announced, my family was ready to provide financial support and contribute labor.”

Ms. Vu Thi Toan, Chairwoman of the Fatherland Front Committee of Kien Thiet commune, said: “The Fatherland Front Committee of the commune has effectively promoted its role and functions, coordinating and mobilizing the people to understand the policies, objectives, and their role as key players in implementing the new rural development program. In particular, the Fatherland Front Committee has mobilized businesses and philanthropists to contribute to the socialized construction of over 550 meters of rural concrete roads in Nam Bo and Lung Quan villages, with a total cost of over 450 million VND and more than 100 man-days of labor. Among them, the VietinBank Tuyen Quang Youth Union, Song Lo Tea Joint Stock Company, Hoang Son Construction and Transportation Company Limited, Dong Bac Company Limited, VietinBank Tuyen Quang Insurance Company, and Hanoi University of Economics and Industrial Technology contributed over 150 million VND and materials for the road construction. These are considered roads of solidarity from the people.”
