Dr. Nguyen Quoc Chinh said: “The score distribution of the second round of 2025 is close to the standard distribution, the score range is wide, and there is a slight tendency to “skew right” compared to the first round. This may be due to the following reasons: First, of the total number of candidates taking the second round, there are more than 65,000 candidates who have taken the exam in the first round. This is a group of candidates with good ability or better, with test scores in the first round higher than the average; Second, the second round takes place about 2 months after the first round, so candidates have more time to review and consolidate their knowledge. At the same time, due to the experience in the first round, candidates have more experience in taking the test, have better time management skills, and better exam room psychology, so their test results have improved.”

In the second round of the HCM National University Entrance Exam in 2025, a total of more than 92,200 candidates took the exam at 34 exam clusters and 80 exam locations located in 11 provinces and cities from the Central to the Southwest regions. In total, in both rounds of the HCM National University Entrance Exam in 2025, nearly 152,800 candidates took the exam, equivalent to nearly 223,200 exam entries. The score range from 120 to 1,122 points demonstrates the diversity of candidates' qualifications, while helping universities and colleges easily determine the appropriate admission threshold for each group of candidates.
Overall, in 2025, the number of candidates increased by nearly one and a half times compared to previous years. Despite the increase in scale, the exam results remained stable: the average score fluctuated around 640-665, the median score fluctuated from 629-654. This shows that the test-taking ability of candidates has not fluctuated over the years and the stability of the exam is guaranteed.
Currently, more than 110 higher education institutions have registered to use the results of the VNU-HCM National High School Graduation Exam for admission in 2025.
