Through extracurricular activities, life skills education, legal awareness sessions, mock trials, etc., students are equipped with specialized knowledge, nurtured in life skills, developed an awareness of law compliance, and a sense of responsibility towards the community. This is an important foundation for building a healthy, friendly school environment, free from exploitation and manipulation by malicious individuals.

Equipping students with legal knowledge.

Recently, the exploitation and coercion of students into committing illegal acts or becoming victims in criminal activities has become quite common. Particularly lately, the issue of students being "kidnapped online" has attracted significant public attention.

The provincial police organized a legal awareness campaign at Bui Thi Xuan Primary, Secondary, and High School (Tam Hiep ward).
The provincial police organized a legal awareness campaign at Bui Thi Xuan Primary, Secondary, and High School (Tam Hiep ward).

For example, on September 19th, the police of Xuan Lap ward, Dong Nai province, in coordination with the police of Thuan Giao ward ( Ho Chi Minh City), promptly prevented an "online kidnapping" attempt, contributing to ensuring security and order in the area. Specifically, after receiving information about a 20-year-old girl renting a room at a guesthouse who showed signs of being held hostage by cybercriminals, the police quickly conducted an investigation. Through verification, the victim was identified as Ms. LHO (20 years old, from Dong Thap province), currently a student at a university in Ho Chi Minh City, renting a room at a guesthouse in Xuan Lap ward. Immediately afterward, the police promptly rescued Ms. O., ensuring her safety and preventing the criminal act.

In response to this situation, the provincial and local police forces have intensified their efforts in disseminating and educating the public about traffic laws. For example, on the afternoon of September 22nd, the Dong Phu Traffic Police Station ( thuộc the Traffic Police Department of Dong Nai Provincial Police) organized a legal awareness campaign on traffic order and safety for 720 students of Dong Tien Secondary and High School (Dong Tam commune, Dong Nai province).

Through this awareness campaign, traffic police officers disseminated the basic regulations of the Law on Road Traffic Order and Safety; guided participants on safe traffic participation skills; and warned of the risks and consequences of violations such as: driving underage, not wearing a helmet, driving side-by-side, speeding, and reckless overtaking…

"Through these awareness campaigns, students are not only equipped with basic legal knowledge but also develop a sense of self-discipline, learn to distinguish right from wrong, and thus become more responsible to themselves, their families, and society."

Ms. PHAM THI NGOC LY, Principal of Bui Thi Xuan Primary, Secondary and High School

Similarly, at a legal awareness session for over 500 students at Nguyen Binh Khiem High School, the Nhon Trach Commune Police helped them understand the basic contents of the Law on Road Traffic Order and Safety and the prevention of high-tech crimes, especially being vigilant against "online kidnapping" tactics.

Truong Quynh Chi (a student at Nguyen Binh Khiem High School) said: "Thanks to the police's legal awareness campaign, I and my classmates have been equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to participate in traffic safely, as well as recognize and avoid online scams. This activity not only helps students raise their legal awareness but also trains them in responding to dangerous situations, thereby proactively protecting themselves from risks in social life and the online environment."

Develop more practical legal programs.

For legal education and awareness campaigns in schools to be sustainable and effective, close coordination between relevant agencies and schools is essential. While specialized agencies provide knowledge, materials, guidance, and answers to students' questions, schools play a crucial role in organizing, integrating, and creating a favorable environment for regular awareness activities.

Ms. Pham Thi Ngoc Ly, Principal of Bui Thi Xuan Primary, Secondary, and High School (Tam Hiep Ward), shared: "The school always considers enhancing students' legal knowledge as an important task alongside academic education. The school has implemented many specific solutions, including displaying signs, banners, and slogans promoting legal regulations within the school grounds for easy student access. In addition, the school regularly collaborates with the local police to organize extracurricular activities and awareness campaigns on traffic safety, social vice prevention, cybersecurity, and common violations among school-aged children."

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Dinh Khuyen, Head of Dai Phuoc Commune Police, said: "Legal education for students is conducted in a lively manner, incorporating specific situations and emphasizing behaviors to avoid such as: driving underage, not wearing a helmet when riding an electric bicycle, the tactics of drug criminals and the dangers of drugs, guidance on safe social media use, how to prevent online scams, and not sharing personal information on online platforms..."

In addition, students are guided on skills to prevent and combat school violence, behave courteously in communication, resolve conflicts, and proactively seek help from teachers, family, and the police when facing dangerous situations. Specifically, self-protection skills against the risk of being harmed or lured by strangers are also integrated into the awareness program.

Through this awareness campaign, students are equipped with more legal knowledge and essential life skills, enhancing their awareness of law compliance and responsibility in maintaining security and order in the area. This, in turn, contributes to building a safe and healthy school environment.
