Although only established on May 26, 2026, the grassroots trade union of Lang Son International Medical Company Limited (Dong Kinh Ward) has quickly implemented activities to care for the children of its employees on the occasion of International Children's Day on June 1st.
Ms. Nguyen Thanh Huyen, Chairwoman of the Trade Union of Lang Son International Medical Company Limited, said: "Right after its establishment, we identified caring for union members and their families as an important task. June 1st came at the same time the trade union had just launched, so the unit promptly developed a plan and coordinated with the company's leadership to organize a program to promptly promote the role of the trade union in caring for the spiritual well-being of employees."
Accordingly, at the "Children's Night" event held on the evening of May 31st, 48 children of the company's employees received gifts. In addition, the company also presented gifts to 20 children from disadvantaged backgrounds in the ward and 20 children in the company's nutrition club. The total cost of the program exceeded 40 million VND.
This is one of many activities organized or co-organized by trade unions at all levels in the province for the children of union members and workers over the years. Recognizing that behind every worker is a family, and children who need care and encouragement, for many years, trade unions at all levels have expanded the scope of their care, directing attention not only to union members but also to their relatives; especially children in difficult circumstances, orphans, and children of low-income workers...
Activities caring for the children of union members and workers are not only held on Children's Day (June 1st), but are also regularly maintained during the Mid-Autumn Festival, the beginning of the new school year, honoring outstanding students, awarding scholarships, and supporting disadvantaged and orphaned children. On average, about 98% of grassroots trade unions organize activities for the children of union members and workers annually, mainly giving gifts, commending, and rewarding students who are children of union members and workers with excellent academic and behavioral achievements.
As the daughter of a worker at DK Viet Nhat Electric Vehicle Co., Ltd., Ha Thanh Van, a student at Tam Thanh Primary School, shared: "Every year I receive gifts and scholarships from the company where my father works. I am very happy to always receive the care and attention of the staff."
From 2023 to the present, according to incomplete statistics, trade unions at all levels have organized thousands of activities in response to the Month of Action for Children, International Children's Day (June 1st), and the Mid-Autumn Festival. Notably, the Provincial Federation of Labor has donated 500 life vests to disadvantaged students to help prevent accidents, injuries, and drowning; awarded over 1,500 scholarships worth more than 350 million VND to children of union members and workers; and distributed over 28,000 gifts with a total value of nearly 4 billion VND to children of union members and students in difficult circumstances. In addition, grassroots trade unions have provided support and gifts to children of union members and workers with a total budget of over 1 billion VND.
During the annual Lunar New Year celebrations, nearly 11,940 gifts were distributed to disadvantaged union members and orphaned children of union members, totaling over 6.6 billion VND.
In addition to material support, trade unions at all levels pay special attention to the spiritual well-being of children. Many cultural, recreational, and experiential programs, as well as sports competitions, are organized or coordinated by trade unions for children. This creates a healthy and beneficial environment, helping children to develop comprehensively.
Ms. Hoang Ngoc Thuy, Vice President of the Provincial Labor Union, stated: "Caring for the children of union members is one of the issues that all levels of the labor union pay special attention to. Because when the children of workers are cared for, encouraged, and supported, union members themselves feel more secure in their work and more committed to their units and businesses. In the coming time, all levels of the labor union will continue to mobilize social resources and diversify forms of care and support so that more children in difficult circumstances can be motivated to excel in their studies and lives."
Through practical activities maintained year after year, trade unions at all levels in the province are contributing to caring for and nurturing the "green shoots" in the families of union members and workers. This is also an investment in the future, giving children more motivation and conditions for learning, training, and growing up, and also strengthening the trust and attachment of each union member and worker to the trade union organization.
