According to Associate Professor Dr. Le Van Son, of the Vietnam Association of Oral, Maxillofacial and Plastic Surgery, in recent years, the strong development of digital technology has brought about many important changes in the field of oral, maxillofacial and plastic surgery.
According to experts, in the past, surgical procedures on patients were performed manually, which was time-consuming and sometimes inaccurate. Now, thanks to advances such as virtual surgical planning, 3D imaging, 3D printing, digital prosthetics, and modern reconstructive techniques, the accuracy, safety, and effectiveness of surgical interventions have improved, and surgical time has also decreased.
Many complex surgical cases – which previously required patients to travel abroad for treatment at high costs – can now be treated right here in Vietnam. In addition, domestic hospitals and medical facilities are attracting many foreign patients and overseas Vietnamese seeking healthcare, treatment, and cosmetic procedures.
The 2nd Vietnam Conference on Oral, Maxillofacial and Plastic Surgery was designed with many practical and in-depth contents, focusing on topics of interest in the specialty such as: treatment of maxillofacial deformities, orthognathic surgery, reconstruction of defects after trauma, application of 3D technology in treatment planning, virtual surgery and 3D printing in mandibular reconstruction…
In particular, online surgical sessions on maxillofacial surgery and zygomatic implant surgery provide visual aids and real-world clinical experience, giving doctors a more practical perspective and opportunities for in-depth professional exchange on complex techniques in the field of maxillofacial surgery.
According to Associate Professor Dr. Le Van Son, this conference is an opportunity to update professional knowledge, for doctors from Vietnam and abroad to strengthen connections, share experiences, and together promote the development of oral, maxillofacial, and plastic surgery in Vietnam in the future.
