A 74-year-old man still earns a master's degree.

On the morning of August 25th, Nha Trang University held a graduation ceremony and awarded degrees to 92 new PhD and Master's graduates. Among them, Mr. Nguyen Anh (born in 1950, residing in Nha Trang City) is the oldest graduate ever to receive a Master's degree at Nha Trang University.

Mr. Anh is a retired construction supervision architect. After retiring, he stayed home to help his wife with her business, but he was still determined to apply for a master's program at Nha Trang University.

Mr. Anh graduated from the Ho Chi Minh City University of Architecture, then pursued distance learning and earned a degree in accounting from Tra Vinh University, followed by a law degree from Vinh University. In 2023, he also obtained a bachelor's degree in English from Hue University.

In addition, Mr. Ánh has also completed a lawyer training program organized by the Judicial Academy ( Ministry of Justice ).

He shared that studying and earning multiple degrees was simply to gain more knowledge for himself.

Mr. Nguyen Anh received his master's degree at the age of 74.

Speaking about his reasons for pursuing a master's degree, Mr. Anh said: "At my age, many people are enjoying their retirement with their children and grandchildren. As for me, I'm going to school to gain more knowledge in life and to be a role model for my children and grandchildren to follow."

The Master of Business Administration thesis that Mr. Ánh chose to defend was "Factors Affecting the Intention to Consume Functional Foods Among the Elderly in Nha Trang City, Khánh Hòa Province".

According to Mr. Ánh, elderly people often have many health problems and need to regularly use dietary supplements. Therefore, more understanding of this group is necessary.

On the day he received his master's degree, he said he wanted to dedicate the degree to his beloved wife for always being by his side, caring for, supporting, and encouraging him. His wife, Ánh, passed away two months ago.

Representatives from Nha Trang University stated that Mr. Nguyen Anh is the oldest person ever to study and graduate with a master's degree there. He will be an inspiration and role model for young people in the spirit of continuous learning.
