Midfielder Declan Rice had to leave the field with a calf strain at the end of the second half. Before that, centre-back Cristhian Mosquera was also forced to leave early and was replaced by Jurrien Timber. These two players join Arsenal's already long injury list, in the context of the team's ambition to compete for the championship.

Coach Arteta was forced to use the central defender pair Mosquera – Hincapie due to the absence of William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes. In addition, pillars such as Kai Havertz, Leandro Trossard are also out. Martin Odegaard, Noni Madueke and Viktor Gyokeres have just returned from injury.

Speaking after the match, coach Arteta expressed his disappointment: “Rice was forced to leave the field. He was able to walk but could not continue playing."

Playing at home, Arsenal won 2-0 against Brentford thanks to goals from Mikel Merino and Bukayo Saka. However, speaking after the match, manager Arteta said the schedule was putting too much pressure on the players as Arsenal played in the Champions League last week, met Chelsea on Sunday, then played again on Wednesday against Brentford.

“We can play many games, but please give us more time to recover. Just one more day will make a big difference,” Arteta added.

Arsenal extended their unbeaten run to 18 games, but the coaching staff are facing a storm of injuries in many positions.

Two goals in the Chelsea - Arsenal match. Early morning of December 1, Chelsea and Arsenal drew 1-1 in a dramatic match in round 13 of the Premier League 2025/26.
