In this match, midfielder Declan Rice had to leave the field with symptoms of a calf muscle strain late in the second half. Earlier, center-back Cristhian Mosquera was also forced to leave the field early and was replaced by Jurrien Timber. These two players join Arsenal's already long injury list, at a time when the team is aiming for the championship.

Manager Arteta was forced to use the central defensive pairing of Mosquera and Hincapie due to the absence of William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes. In addition, key players like Kai Havertz and Leandro Trossard were also sidelined. Meanwhile, Martin Odegaard, Noni Madueke, and Viktor Gyokeres had only recently returned from injury.

Speaking after the match, manager Arteta expressed his disappointment: “Rice had to leave the field. He could walk but couldn’t continue playing.”

Playing at home, Arsenal secured a 2-0 victory against Brentford thanks to goals from Mikel Merino and Bukayo Saka. However, in a post-match interview, manager Arteta suggested that the fixture schedule was putting too much pressure on the players, having just played in the Champions League last week, facing Chelsea on Sunday, and then playing again on Wednesday against Brentford.

"We could play many games, but please give us more time to recover. Just one more day would make a big difference," Arteta added.

Arsenal extended their unbeaten run to 18 matches, but the coaching staff is facing a wave of injuries in multiple positions.

Two goals in the Chelsea - Arsenal match: In the early hours of December 1st, Chelsea and Arsenal drew 1-1 in a dramatic match in Round 13 of the 2025/26 Premier League.
