Currently, over 53,600 people in Ca Mau province participate in voluntary social insurance, reaching 69.08% of the plan. Despite facing difficulties due to unstable incomes, with the involvement of the entire political system, the voluntary social insurance policy is gradually spreading widely, becoming a sustainable social security support for the people, aiming for everyone to have a pension in old age.

In the first quarter of 2026, the number of people participating in voluntary social insurance in the province decreased compared to the end of 2025, mainly due to some people still facing economic difficulties and not renewing their insurance in a timely manner. In light of this, the provincial social insurance system has been and is stepping up its宣传 efforts and diversifying its outreach methods to bring the policy closer to each household.

In Hamlet 6, Tan Thanh Ward, the people's economy is mainly based on livestock farming, crop cultivation, small-scale trading, and freelance work. The awareness campaign is implemented flexibly and in line with the local reality.

Mr. Phan Van Bang, Head of Hamlet 6, said: "Previously, the number of people participating in voluntary social insurance in the area was small, only about 40 people. Since the beginning of 2026, following the direction of the Party Committee and the People's Committee of the ward, we have developed a specific plan, assigning targets to each group and organization to encourage people to participate. On the very first day of the campaign, the target assigned to the hamlet was to develop 5 people to participate in voluntary social insurance, and the hamlet has successfully encouraged 13 people to participate."

Mr. To Van Hai, from Cay Tram hamlet, Tan Thanh ward, raised concerns about social insurance policies with provincial social insurance officials.

Besides going door-to-door to disseminate information and explain the benefits, contribution levels, and participation methods, helping people understand the policy correctly and fully, the application of digital technology has also yielded significant results. A community Zalo group has been established in the neighborhood, connecting most households. Information about voluntary social insurance is updated regularly, promptly answering questions and enabling people to proactively access the policy.

"Currently, many households are proactively registering to participate through Zalo groups. The application of technology helps to make the dissemination of information faster and more effective than before," Mr. Bang added.

In Cay Tram A hamlet, Tan Thanh ward, the movement to participate in voluntary social insurance has also seen many positive changes. Mr. Diep Thanh Giang, head of the hamlet, said: "The local forces actively coordinate and closely monitor the area to disseminate information and clearly explain the benefits. Once they understand, people are willing to participate, viewing it as a safe savings plan for the future."

Combining direct communication with the application of digital technology opens up new avenues and enhances the effectiveness of mobilizing people's participation.
