According to Mr. Nguyen Cong Danh, head of Binh Lam village, although there are still nearly 40 days until the Lunar New Year of the Horse 2026, 75% of the ornamental chrysanthemum pots of all kinds in Binh Lam flower village have already been ordered by traders and flower shops inside and outside the province.
According to calculations by residents of Binh Lam flower village, with current prices ranging from 350,000 VND to 2.1 million VND per pot, as ordered by traders and flower shops (approximately 10,000 pots of chrysanthemums, crystal flowers, daisies, etc.), this year's Tet flower season in Binh Lam village is estimated to generate over 7.5 billion VND in revenue. After deducting expenses such as seeds, fertilizer, electricity, pots, etc., the village is expected to make a profit of about 5 billion VND.
Besides growing chrysanthemums, households in Binh Lam flower village also cultivate more than 5,000 pots of various flowers such as sunflowers, gerberas, marigolds, apricot blossoms, orchids, etc., priced from 80,000 to 100,000 VND per pot, generating sales of over 450 million VND and a profit of approximately 300 million VND.

Thanks to income from flower cultivation, the lives of households in the flower village have gradually become more stable and prosperous than before. Many households have been able to purchase and equip themselves with many modern and expensive items and equipment. In particular, people now have better conditions to care for and invest in their children's education, accessing and acquiring modern scientific knowledge and advancements to support family members in improving the productivity and quality of the village's crops.
For example, Mr. Le Trung Truc's household planted about 1,000 pots of chrysanthemums, Mr. Tran Ba Dao's household planted about 700 pots of chrysanthemums, Mr. Nguyen Hang's household planted about 700 pots of chrysanthemums,... these are some of the households that planted the most chrysanthemums for Tet this year in Binh Lam flower village.
Tuy Phuoc Dong commune was one of the areas severely affected by Typhoon No. 13 and the historic floods that followed. Therefore, for this year's Tet flower season, only 120 out of 180 households in the village are still growing flowers. Those who live in higher, sheltered areas, combined with their effective restoration techniques, are able to supply flowers to the market.

To facilitate the preservation and development of traditional craft villages, authorities at all levels need to promptly research and support people with effective disaster prevention measures, plan specialized flower cultivation areas in high-lying locations to avoid natural disaster risks, and assist people in accessing preferential capital sources, etc., so that people can feel secure in their commitment to and development of traditional craft villages.
