Five North-South expressway projects in the 2027-2020 period, funded by the state budget, will begin collecting tolls from 10 PM tomorrow, March 2nd, 2026.
Accordingly, the expressways that will charge tolls include: Mai Son - National Highway 45, National Highway 45 - Nghi Son, Nghi Son - Dien Chau, Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet, and Phan Thiet - Dau Giay.
24/7 technical support available at the toll station.
According to Mr. Nguyen Viet Huy, Deputy Director of the Vietnam Road Administration, to ensure smooth toll collection in the initial period, provide timely support to road users, and maintain smooth traffic flow at the expressway entrances and exits, the Administration has requested the Road Management Zones and toll collection service providers, including Vietnam Digital Transport Joint Stock Company (VDTC), VETC Automatic Toll Collection Company Limited, and the ETC-VETC-VDTC-EPAY consortium, to assign personnel to provide on-site guidance and technical support at all toll stations on the five expressways.
The Vietnam Road Administration has also established a Toll Collection Management Team for publicly invested expressways to coordinate and promptly handle any situations arising during the initial implementation phase, ensuring that toll collection proceeds on schedule and effectively.
At the same time, units are required to plan and assign personnel to ensure 24/7 duty to promptly guide vehicles, handle technical incidents or situations arising at the exit of toll stations, and ensure that traffic congestion does not occur in the toll station area.
The Department also requested the Traffic Police Department to coordinate in ensuring traffic order and safety at toll stations on the expressway, such as increasing patrols and inspections, organizing traffic regulation and flow management in the areas of toll stations and interchanges entering and exiting the expressway; promptly detecting and handling violations, ensuring smooth and safe traffic flow.
Previously, the Ministry of Construction approved the toll rates for vehicles traveling on the following expressway sections: Mai Son - National Highway 45, National Highway 45 - Nghi Son, Nghi Son - Dien Chau, Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet, and Phan Thiet - Dau Giay. This serves as the basis for implementing toll collection on these expressways starting from March 2, 2026.
Two fee levels for five vehicle categories.
The Ministry of Construction requires the Vietnam Road Administration to publicly disclose the fee rates, collection methods, payers, exemptions, reductions, and to organize fee collection in accordance with the law on fees and charges, based on the approved fee levels.
According to a proposal from the Vietnam Road Administration, there will be two toll rates for five vehicle categories:
Level 1: Unit prices for vehicle groups are as follows: 1,300 VND/km, 1,950 VND/km, 2,600 VND/km, 3,250 VND/km, and 5,200 VND/km.
Level 2: Unit prices for vehicle groups are 900 VND/km, 1,350 VND/km, 1,800 VND/km, 2,250 VND/km, and 3,600 VND/km, respectively.
Accordingly, the following sections of the expressway: Mai Son - National Highway 45, National Highway 45 - Nghi Son, Nghi Son - Dien Chau, and Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet, which have 4 lanes but lack a continuous emergency stopping lane, will be charged 900 VND/km.
The Mai Son - National Highway 45 expressway has an actual toll-calculated length of over 61 km. The highest toll for Group 1 vehicles (vehicles with fewer than 12 seats, trucks with a load capacity of less than 2 tons, and public passenger buses) is 54,909 VND; the highest toll for Group 5 vehicles (trucks with a load capacity of 18 tons or more, and container trucks with a capacity of 40 feet or more) is 219,636 VND.
The QL45 - Nghi Son expressway, with a toll length of over 45 km, will have the highest toll rates: 40,516 VND for Group 1 vehicles and 162,065 VND for Group 5 vehicles.
The Nghi Son - Dien Chau expressway, with a toll length of over 50 km, will have the highest toll rates: 45,405 VND for Group 1 vehicles and 181,620 VND for Group 5 vehicles.
The Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet expressway, with a toll length of over 100 km, will have the highest toll rates: 90,555 VND for Group 1 vehicles and 362,225 VND for Group 5 vehicles.
The Phan Thiet - Dau Giay expressway is a full-fledged four-lane highway (four driving lanes and two continuous emergency stopping lanes), so the toll is 1,300 VND/km. With a toll-free length of 99 km, the Phan Thiet - Dau Giay expressway will have the highest toll rates: 128,700 VND for Group 1 vehicles and 518,800 VND for Group 5 vehicles.
Based on the actual distance traveled by vehicles on the highway, the vehicle owner will be charged a corresponding amount.
