The Head of the Provincial Military Command presented awards to the winning teams at the "Effective Mass Mobilization" competition in the Thua Thien Hue Armed Forces in 2023.

Close to the people

The 6th Regiment is regularly assigned by the Provincial Military Command to organize field exercises and conduct civilian outreach work, assisting people in key areas, especially in remote villages, revolutionary war zones, ethnic minority areas, and areas with a large Catholic population. Monthly, officers and soldiers of the 6th Regiment participate in civilian assistance, living and eating with the local people. The number of personnel involved in this assistance is large, mostly young soldiers.

Lieutenant Colonel Mai Luc, Political Commissar of Regiment 6, shared: "To gain the trust and support of the people in providing us with food and shelter, we must do a good job of mass mobilization. In the process of helping the people, we organize activities such as sports and cultural exchanges with local residents; visiting and giving gifts to families with preferential policies, families who have contributed to the revolution, and disadvantaged families. Through these activities, we combine efforts to promote and encourage the people to effectively implement the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's laws, and local regulations."

Last July, the unit conducted a field trip to assist the people in Phu Vang district. At the end of the trip, the unit received many compliments from the local Party committee, government, and people.

Dr. Tran Ngoc Quang, Head of Phu Gia Commune Health Station, Phu Vang District, said: "During the days of assisting the people, despite the hot weather, the officers and soldiers were very enthusiastic, helping the health station complete the painting and renovation of the fence, paint the health station, organize environmental sanitation, mow the grass, and plant trees in the grounds."

According to the leaders of the A Lưới District Military Command, each time the unit marches to remote areas to carry out civilian outreach work, it presents many challenges for the officers and staff of the A Lưới District Military Command. The challenge is how to gain the trust, affection, and cooperation of the local people... This requires a great deal of time and effort because the local people have many unique customs.

Effectiveness of the competition

In mid-September, the Provincial Military Command successfully organized the "Skilled Mass Mobilization" competition within the provincial armed forces. This year's competition featured 11 teams from the armed forces of districts, towns, and cities, Regiment 6, and Tank and Armored Battalion 3.

Lieutenant Colonel Ho Van Hoa, Political Commissar of the A Luoi District Military Command, shared: "The experience and lessons learned from the recent 'Skilled Mass Mobilization' competition will help the unit develop more effective methods in mass mobilization work in the future; contributing to timely dissemination of information to the people, especially those in remote areas, to help them better understand the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's laws and regulations, the Army's tasks, the solidarity between the military and the people, and to raise awareness in helping each other develop the economy, alleviate poverty, build a cultural life, and eliminate outdated customs..."

For the 6th Regiment, participating in the "Effective Mass Mobilization" competition, the unit developed a concise program that left a lasting impression on the audience. The Regiment's competition program brought the spirit of youth, fully reflecting the lessons learned from the process of the unit's officers and soldiers living and working alongside the people.

All participating units' performances were closely aligned with the situations, locations, and regions. Many units staged programs with depth, innovation, and creativity, focusing on diverse scripts and selecting art forms that suited the identity of each locality. The situations in the theatrical skits were resolved effectively, with empathy and reason, reflecting the realities of life at the grassroots level…

“The results of the competition will help the armed forces agencies and units of the province find good models and creative, effective methods in implementing the ‘Skilled Mass Mobilization’ emulation movement and building ‘Good Mass Mobilization Units.’ At the same time, it will raise awareness and responsibility among officers and soldiers in performing their duties, thereby contributing to improving the quality of mass mobilization work in the new period…”, affirmed Colonel Ha Van Ai, Deputy Political Commissar of the Provincial Military Command.
