At around 3am, Captain Bui Anh Hien, 40, from Bac Lieu City, and 6 fishermen were fishing about 5 nautical miles (more than 9 km) from Nha Mat port when the boat broke water. The crew members on the boat jumped into the water holding life buoys and drifted at sea.
Six hours later, the seven fishermen were rescued by Mr. Tran Viet Thuong’s fishing boat, which was fishing nearby, and taken to Vinh Hau Border Control Station. The crew members were brought safely to shore by the border guards, and military medical staff were sent to examine and provide first aid.
This evening, Cai Cung Border Guard Station, Hoa Binh District received the 7 crew members. The victims are currently in stable health and have been handed over to their families.
