At approximately 3 AM, Captain Bui Anh Hien, 40 years old, from Bac Lieu City, along with 6 fishermen, were fishing about 5 nautical miles (over 9 km) from the Nha Mat estuary when their boat began to take on water. The crew members grabbed lifebuoys and jumped into the water, drifting at sea.
Six hours later, seven fishermen were rescued by a fishing boat belonging to Mr. Tran Viet Thuong, which was fishing nearby, and brought to the Vinh Hau Border Guard checkpoint. The crew members were safely brought ashore by the border guard forces, and military medical officers were assigned to examine and provide initial first aid.
This evening, the Cai Cung Border Guard Station in Hoa Binh district received the seven crew members. Their health is now stable, and they have been handed over to their families.
