HAGL Club expressed their heartfelt gratitude: "Farewell, Coach Nguyen Van Vinh – former Technical Director of the Club. His silent contributions to Vietnamese football, and especially to HAGL, will forever remain in the memories of the fans. He dedicated his entire life to the beautiful game. We offer our deepest condolences to his family and players, and pray that he rests in peace."

Former football legend Kiatisuk Senamuang wrote: "May his soul rest in eternal peace. Coach Nguyen Van Vinh - former Technical Director of HAGL Club - passed away peacefully this morning."

Born in Hanoi in 1942, Nguyen Van Vinh grew up playing for The Cong, alongside the golden generation of Northern Vietnamese football. After 1975, he moved to Ho Chi Minh City, where he remained deeply involved with Southern football before transitioning entirely to coaching.

On the coaching bench, he has led many teams such as The Cong, Ho Chi Minh City Food Industry, Ho Chi Minh City Police, Tien Giang, Da Nang , and especially HAGL. At the national team level, he served as the head coach of the Vietnam U19 team in 1999, and also participated in the national team's coaching staff at the SEA Games from 1995-1999.

The most significant milestone in his career came in 2002, when he was invited by bầu Đức (a prominent figure in Vietnamese football) to take on the role of Technical Director. He made a major contribution to building the professional foundation, helping HAGL gain promotion and win the V.League championship for two consecutive seasons in 2003 and 2004. With his modern tactical thinking and solid theoretical foundation, he is considered one of the first true Technical Directors in Vietnamese football.

Beyond his achievements, in 2007 he continued to contribute to the formation of the HAGL Arsenal JMG Academy - a pioneering youth training model that created a turning point for the development of young players in the country. In 2009, he left the club but continued to participate in professional activities, working as a commentator and advisor, and was a member of the VPF Ethics Advisory Board in 2013.

Since 2020, he retired to be with his family, ending a journey of more than half a century with football. The passing of Mr. Nguyen Van Vinh leaves a huge void in the hearts of professionals and fans. He was an exemplary coach, a dedicated manager, and a part of the history of football in the mountainous region.
