Regular healthcare tailored to actual needs.

Alongside efforts to stabilize housing, the city's social security system is focusing on the daily needs of war veterans, from healthcare and benefit payments to visits and expressions of gratitude. Tang Nhon Phu Ward is one of the localities that clearly demonstrates this approach.

Twice a year, Mr. Tran Quang Ngoc, a disabled veteran of category 3/4 residing in Tang Nhon Phu ward, receives phone calls from local officials reminding him of his scheduled general health check-up. These reminders are not limited to administrative notices; they are made precisely on the day and time of the check-up to ensure the elderly man does not miss the screening.

Care activities are implemented regularly and closely aligned with the actual needs of people with meritorious service at the local level.

War veteran Tran Quang Ngoc, residing in Tang Nhon Phu ward, Ho Chi Minh City, said that local officials regularly call to remind him of his check-up schedule and also provide free medicine monthly at the health station. According to him, this close monitoring helps war veterans feel more secure and reassured about their health.

From the beginning of 2026 to the present, Tang Nhon Phu ward has organized in-depth health screenings for more than 500 people, while maintaining regular health records for nearly 1,000 elderly people. Therefore, medical care is no longer limited to occasional support, but is being maintained as part of a regular social welfare system.

Combining subsidies, appreciation, and on-site care.

Besides healthcare, the locality currently maintains a stable monthly payment of approximately 3.5 billion VND in subsidies for policy beneficiaries and social welfare recipients. This is an important source of support that helps many families of war veterans stabilize their lives.

In anticipation of the 51st anniversary of the Liberation of Southern Vietnam and the reunification of the country, 10 delegations from the ward also directly visited and expressed gratitude to 100 exemplary families receiving preferential treatment. This approach ensures that the concern is not just on paper, but is conveyed directly to each household.

Mr. Trinh Minh Tai shared about the "5-in-1" model in caring for people with meritorious service in the locality.

Mr. Trinh Minh Tai, Head of the Culture and Social Affairs Department of Tang Nhon Phu Ward, Ho Chi Minh City, said that the locality is implementing the "5-in-1" model, with a focus on on-site healthcare to provide continuous care within the community and at home. The overarching goal is to diversify activities from in-depth screening to direct visits, aiming to ensure that the living standards of families with meritorious service are always equal to or higher than the average living standards in the residential area.

Policies that go deep from the grassroots level.

According to local authorities, adhering to resolutions on strengthening the protection and improvement of people's health is the basis for bringing healthcare services closer to the people. Instead of waiting for people to seek assistance themselves, the current care model aims to proactively bring services directly to people's homes, especially for elderly policy beneficiaries or those with mobility difficulties.

War veteran Tran Quang Ngoc, residing in Tang Nhon Phu ward, Ho Chi Minh City, stated that receiving two general check-ups per year and free medication monthly is very practical. For those with disabilities, regular health monitoring helps them feel more comfortable and secure.

Screening activities help war veterans and the elderly receive regular health monitoring in the community.

Mr. Trinh Minh Tai, Head of the Culture and Social Affairs Department of Tang Nhon Phu Ward, Ho Chi Minh City, said that the locality is promoting the on-site healthcare model to ensure that all policy beneficiaries receive comprehensive and continuous healthcare right at home and within their residential areas.

Through specific policies at the grassroots level, the social welfare picture for those who have rendered meritorious services to the nation in Ho Chi Minh City is gradually being perfected in a more substantive and people-oriented direction. When care is implemented comprehensively, closely, and diversely, the tradition of "drinking water, remembering the source" continues to be preserved and spread in urban life today.
