Marriage registration
1. The People's Committee at the commune level is responsible for registering marriages in the following cases:
a) Registration of marriage between Vietnamese citizens residing in Vietnam;
b) Registration of marriage between a Vietnamese citizen residing in Vietnam and a foreigner, between a Vietnamese citizen residing abroad, or between a person of Vietnamese origin whose nationality is not yet determined but who is living in Vietnam;
c) Marriage registration for Vietnamese nationals whose nationality is undetermined and who are residing in Vietnam, and for foreigners permanently residing in Vietnam.
2. The contents of the marriage registration include:
a) Surname, middle name (if any), given name; date of birth; ethnicity; nationality; place of residence; personal identification number; information from identity documents of the male and female parties;
b) Date of marriage registration; date of establishment of the marital relationship.
3. Both the man and the woman must be present at the civil registration office to sign the Marriage Registration Book and the Marriage Certificate.
