For every Vietnamese person in general, and the people of Hung Yen in particular, the cultural space of the traditional Lunar New Year always holds sacred and profound meaning, along with excitement and anticipation. This year's Lunar New Year, the Year of the Dragon 2024, will see even more diversity in the province's Tet culture with many vibrant and attractive activities.

Tet (Lunar New Year) is not only a time for family reunions and gatherings, but also a time to immerse oneself in the vibrant natural scenery, spiritual and cultural festivals, and special cultural programs. Therefore, many people in Hung Yen, whether working far from home or in their hometown, eagerly anticipate the arrival of Tet and Spring. Mr. Nguyen Minh Thuat, originally from Tan Phuc commune (An Thi district), currently working in Ho Chi Minh City, said: "Although I work in the South, every year during Tet I still arrange my work to return home for the Lunar New Year. Not only do I get to reunite with my family, but I also love the traditional Tet atmosphere with many spring festival activities in my hometown." Sharing the same anticipation for Tet (Lunar New Year) and the joy of immersing herself in the spring atmosphere, Ms. Le Bich Viet from Lam Son ward (Hung Yen city) expressed: "What I like most about Tet is seeing the city brightly decorated with flags and flowers, and the spring excursion spots like Nguyen Van Linh Square, temples, and pagodas... all beautifully landscaped. Tet is a time to rest after a year of hard work, and those moments spent with family and friends, immersed in the cultural atmosphere of spring, help me dispel all worries and fatigue."

To prepare a colorful cultural space for the Tet holiday celebrating the Party and the Spring Festival of the Year of the Dragon 2024, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, along with local authorities at all levels, are urgently carrying out many tasks to meet the needs of the people for celebrating Tet and welcoming the Spring. Mr. Do Huu Nhan, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said: In 2023, the province's socio -economic development achieved many positive results. Following the direction of the Provincial People's Committee, the Department has issued guidance documents to units and localities to implement many tasks such as: beautifying and creating landscapes, replacing symbols, banners, and slogans at administrative centers, historical sites, and main roads; creating healthy recreational spaces. In addition, they are strengthening the organization of cultural, artistic, and sports activities such as: developing cultural programs to celebrate the Party and the Spring Festival, praising the homeland, the country, the Party, and President Ho Chi Minh; Organizing poetry and folk dance club activities aims to create a joyful and lively Tet atmosphere for every citizen.

Many localities in the province have renovated roads and destinations for spring festivities to serve the people. Mr. Nguyen Quoc Khanh, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of My Hao town, said: "Following the directives of the province and the cultural sector, we have redecorated the roads, hung Party flags, national flags, and displayed banners and posters celebrating the Party and the new spring. In particular, at amusement parks and historical sites, the atmosphere is strongly reminiscent of spring, with colorful landscape designs combining tradition and modernity to attract people to celebrate Tet and welcome the spring."

Specifically, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has directed the Provincial Museum to coordinate with the Provincial Cultural Center, Hung Yen Cheo Theater, the Provincial Library, and the Hung Yen Tourism Promotion Information Center to prepare for the thematic exhibition "Vietnamese Tet Market". Here, people will be able to visit and experience the Tet atmosphere in a Vietnamese family, including: ancestral altars, feast trays, five-fruit trays, red couplets, fresh flowers, Tet paintings, wrapping and cooking banh chung (traditional rice cakes); some Vietnamese rituals, customs, and traditions during Tet; and the characteristics of a rural Tet market through the exhibition booths. In addition, there will be performances of traditional folk songs such as "hat trong quan," "ca tru," "xam," calligraphy, and folk games; and exhibitions of books, newspapers, magazines, and documentary photos about the province's socio-economic development achievements, as well as beautiful tourism photos of Hung Yen. The program, scheduled to run from February 3rd (the 24th day of the 12th lunar month of the Year of the Rabbit) to February 15th (the 6th day of the 1st lunar month of the Year of the Dragon), aims to foster pride and raise awareness among all segments of the population, especially the younger generation, in preserving and spreading the valuable traditional cultural values of their ancestors in contemporary life. This event promises to attract a large number of people from all walks of life to visit and enjoy.

This year, in addition to cultural and sporting activities during Tet, on New Year's Eve, people will also be able to enjoy dazzling fireworks displays at 8 locations in 7 localities in the province: Hung Yen City, My Hao town and the districts of Van Lam, Van Giang, Khoai Chau, An Thi, and Yen My, funded through social contributions.

The Lunar New Year of the Dragon 2024 is fast approaching across villages and streets, marking the 94th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam (February 3, 1930 - February 3, 2024). With the involvement of all levels and sectors, it is hoped that the Tet cultural atmosphere will bring each citizen a joyful, warm, and happy Tet celebration. This will be a beginning that brings good fortune and prosperity to each individual and to the development of the homeland and the country as a whole.
