Extend the nighttime spending cycle.
The nights of the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival (DIFF) 2026 are creating a strong shift in consumer spending after 6 PM. From the central area along the Han River to the An Thuong tourist street, My Khe beach, Son Tra night market, and coastal entertainment complexes, numerous businesses enter their peak hours of the day.
According to the Da Nang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, on the opening night of DIFF 2026 on May 30th, accommodation establishments in the city served an estimated 91,700 visitors, an increase of 17.5% compared to the opening night of DIFF 2025. Of these, approximately 39,300 were international visitors and about 52,400 were domestic visitors.

However, the economic value that DIFF brings lies not only in the number of tourists visiting the city, but also in its ability to extend the economic activity after sunset. In An Thuong tourist street, a popular destination for international visitors, many restaurants and service establishments have recorded a significant increase in customers on nights with fireworks displays.
Speaking with a reporter from the Industry and Trade Newspaper, Mr. Tran Minh Hoang, manager of An Thuong Viet Seafood Restaurant (located in the An Thuong Western Quarter, Ngu Hanh Son Ward), said that while on normal days the majority of customers gather from 7 am to 12 pm, on the nights of DIFF, business hours extend until around 2 am.

"Every year during the fireworks season, the number of customers is much higher than usual. We proactively prepare more food, increase staff, and extend our opening hours to serve customers," Mr. Hoang said, adding, "On fireworks nights, we can maintain customer numbers both during and after the show, so the number of customers increases."
“Normally, with longer tours, tourists would stay in Da Nang for about 1 to 2 days, then move on to Hoi An, My Son… but during this season, the allure of the fireworks festival along with many beach activities in Da Nang makes tourists often choose to stay longer to experience everything. This helps increase revenue from rooms, food and beverage services and other related services,” said Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Hoai, Deputy Head of the Statistics Department of Sala Beach Hotel (An Hai Ward, Da Nang City).

At Son Tra Night Market, which has over 300 stalls, it has also become a major tourist attraction in the city. According to Mr. Do Ngoc Thi Ca, Director of DHTC Da Nang Co., Ltd., this is the peak tourist season, and the market usually welcomes more than 10,000 visitors per day, many times more than on normal days.
“The unit has planned to coordinate with An Hai ward to organize activities and festivals during this peak season. At the same time, we will coordinate with travel companies to promote and bring tourists to the night market on the nights of the fireworks displays,” Mr. Ca informed.
Many businesses operating yachts, rooftop bars, and coastal resorts are also developing additional products to serve the night-time economy, such as fireworks viewing parties, art performances, entertainment services, and high-end experiences.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Thi, Vice Chairman of the Da Nang City People's Committee, stated that DIFF 2026 is expected to continue creating a "double boost" for the city, not only promoting tourism growth but also providing strong impetus for the night-time economy, high-quality services, and enhancing Da Nang's image on the international event map.
Increase value with each customer visit.
According to statistics from Da Nang's tourism industry, in the first five months of 2026, the city served approximately 7.74 million overnight visitors, an increase of 20.9% compared to the same period last year. In May alone, the month marking the start of the summer tourism season, especially the opening ceremony of DIFF, the number of overnight visitors reached approximately 1.78 million, an increase of 28.9% (international visitors accounted for approximately 872,000, an increase of 31.1%).
These figures show that DIFF is effectively playing the role of a "bright spot" in promoting tourism in the city. But from an economic perspective, the more significant impact lies in its ability to convert the influx of tourists into revenue for various sectors.

Speaking with a reporter from the Industry and Trade Newspaper about the economic development plan during this peak tourist season, Mr. Nguyen Hoa, Chairman of the People's Committee of Ngu Hanh Son Ward, said: "The locality has strengthened the expansion and formation of a continuous chain of entertainment, recreation and commercial spaces from the coastal area, focusing on the An Thuong Western Quarter to Chau Thi Vinh Te and Do Ba streets, in order to expand the potential and comprehensively develop the night-time economy."
It is known that since 2018, Da Nang has been implementing a project to upgrade the An Thuong neighborhood with a budget of nearly 60 billion VND. By 2025, the city will continue to invest nearly 105 billion VND to expand phase 2, building a central square, an outdoor stage, and bustling coastal pedestrian streets.
From the perspective of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the development of the night-time economy opens up significant opportunities for local businesses. OCOP products, regional specialties, souvenirs, handicrafts, and many rural industrial products have more opportunities to directly reach a large number of domestic and international tourists.
To build a transparent business environment and boost trade, the Da Nang Department of Industry and Trade announced that it will continue to direct market management forces to strengthen inspections of compliance with price regulations, monitor price declaration and listing activities, and promptly handle unreasonable price increases, speculation, or hoarding during peak tourist seasons.
In the list of projects and tasks for socio-economic development in 2026 previously approved by the Da Nang City People's Committee, the plan for developing the night-time economy in the city until 2030 is also given special attention. This is seen as an opportunity for the tourism industry to build a more comprehensive and groundbreaking strategy for developing the night-time economy, making tourism a truly leading economic sector of the city.
