According to the official website of Hanoi University of Science and Technology, at a meeting of more than 200 former faculty members returning to visit their alma mater on May 21st, Professor Le Anh Tuan - Secretary of the Party Committee of Hanoi University of Science and Technology - stated that currently, due to Hanoi city's plan to expand Giai Phong road, the university's land will be reduced to right next to building C9.
Mr. Tuan affirmed: "The school's leadership team will carefully consider how to preserve the iconic Parabolic Arch, whether by rebuilding it or relocating it. The image of the Parabolic Arch will always remain associated with Hanoi University of Science and Technology, representing Vietnam's leading science and technology university."
Previously, many students and alumni of Hanoi University of Science and Technology expressed regret upon hearing that the university's parabolic gate might be located in an area slated for demolition to expand Giai Phong road to 90 meters.
According to alumni, countless generations of students have walked through the Parabol Gate with dreams and aspirations. Some, starting as students from rural areas, have become engineers, scientists, and administrators. Others have left behind their youth, friendships, love, and the best years of their lives.
Since then, some people have expressed the wish that, in the event the Parabol gate has to be relocated to widen Giai Phong road, the school could build a new gate or place the old Parabol gate within the school grounds as a historical landmark, a place where generations of students can return to take commemorative photos and remember their youth.

The Parabolic Gate, built over 50 years ago, boasts a unique architecture and was once a source of pride for the new generation of intellectuals.
Besides the Parabol gate on Giai Phong Street, Hanoi University of Science and Technology has two other gates located on Dai Co Viet and Tran Dai Nghia streets.
Currently, the Tran Dai Nghia gate is the main access point for many students, but the Parabol gate remains a distinctive feature and a legend among students whenever they talk about the school.
