Contributing to the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses.

In response to the movement to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses, from February 2025 to the present, the Military Command of Dak Po district has mobilized 44 officers and soldiers along with 525 militia members to help 191 poor, near-poor, and policy beneficiary households build and repair their houses.

The family of Mr. Tran Thanh Thong (village 5, Ha Tam commune) is classified as a poor household facing housing difficulties. In early 2025, with financial support from the government, Mr. Thong built a house with an area of 70 m2. The total construction cost was 200 million VND, of which the government provided 60 million VND, and the family borrowed 140 million VND from the Social Policy Bank.

Mr. Thong recounted: "My family received enthusiastic assistance from the army and militia forces in digging the foundation, leveling the ground, and transporting materials. Thanks to their help, the foundation construction was quick and efficient, shortening the construction time compared to the original plan and reducing costs."

From the beginning of February 2025 until now, the District Military Command has deployed 12 officers and soldiers and 90 militia members to help the households build and repair their houses. The task has now been completed.

Speaking with reporters, Mr. Nguyen Van Phuong, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Committee of Ha Tam commune, said: In 2025, the commune will support the construction of 6 houses and the repair of 3 houses for poor and near-poor households and families entitled to preferential policies. Thanks to the labor contributions of the army and militia, the progress of eliminating temporary housing for these families is faster, reducing construction costs.

Building a strong militia force.

Dak Po District currently has 8 militia units and 6 self-defense units with 723 officers and soldiers; 217 Party members (accounting for 30%), and 430 Youth Union members (accounting for 59.5%). Lieutenant Colonel Ho Van Phu, Political Commissar of the Dak Po District Military Command, said: In recent years, the District Party Committee and the District People's Committee have led and directed the effective implementation of local defense and military work, building a national defense system based on the entire population, and consolidating a strong national defense posture linked to a solid people's security posture. In particular, emphasis has been placed on strengthening and building a strong and widespread militia and self-defense force to meet the requirements of the new situation.

Annually, the District Military Command organizes the consolidation of the militia force in accordance with the regulations of the Militia Law. In coordination with various departments, organizations, and local authorities, they review, register, and select citizens within the eligible age range, with clear backgrounds, good moral character, and educational qualifications to join the militia force.

The militia team closely coordinates with the police force to organize patrols and controls, maintaining political security and social order in the area; at the same time, they actively participate in activities for social welfare and the construction of new rural areas; and prepare forces and means well to participate in search and rescue operations, disaster prevention and control, fire prevention and control, and disease prevention and control.

“In 2024, the District Military Command guided the Military Commands of communes and towns to advise the Party Committees and local authorities on implementing the plan for mass mobilization work, helping Kuk Kon village (An Thanh commune) plant trees and repair rural roads with a total of 425 man-days; supporting 4 poor households to buy seeds and livestock to develop their economy . The Military Commands of communes and towns also provided man-days to help policy beneficiary families build houses of gratitude and sanitation facilities; and gave gifts to policy beneficiary families and poor households in some particularly difficult villages on holidays and Tet (Lunar New Year),” informed the Political Commissar of the Dak Po District Military Command.

Referring to the future role and tasks of the local militia force, the Standing Deputy Secretary of the District Party Committee, Nguyen Truong, emphasized: Given the complex and unpredictable developments in the world and the region, and the subversive activities of hostile forces, the militia force needs to possess strong political resolve, comprehensive skills and capabilities, and be able to meet the demands of the new situation.
