Ensuring security and order in border areas

(Baothanhhoa.vn) - Thanks to the synchronous implementation of many measures and the consensus of the people, the work of ensuring security and order (SOT) in the border areas of the province has had remarkable changes. The number of law violations, the number of people suffering from social evils, deforestation, illegal migration, and illegal proselytizing has tended to decrease, and political security and social order and safety have been ensured.

Tam Thanh commune has 18km of border adjacent to Laos. The whole commune has 861 households, 4,128 people, with 98% of the Thai ethnic group. Previously, Tam Thanh commune always had many complicated factors regarding security and order. Faced with this situation, Tam Thanh commune police have consulted with local Party committees and authorities on many solutions to ensure security and order. Among them, there is a solution to promote the movement "All people protect national security", maximizing the strength of the people participating in the fight against crime and eliminating social evils. Assign tasks to each officer and soldier to proactively grasp the local situation to review and identify key issues and areas to focus on resolving cases in accordance with the law. At the same time, strengthen coordination with border guards, organize patrols, protect border security, maintain self-managed border and border markers. From 2020 to present, the police and border guards have detected and handled 24 cases, with 50 subjects violating social order; administratively sanctioned 11 cases, 37 subjects.

Na Meo Commune has a long border, many trails, openings and Na Meo International Border Gate, so it is considered an area with many potential risks of losing security and order. In recent times, in order to effectively maintain security and order in the area, the commune police have proactively done a good job of advising the Party Committee, the commune government, and the Na Meo International Border Gate Border Guard Station to develop a plan to ensure social order and safety in the area. Major Pham Van Hop, Head of Na Meo Commune Police, said: To ensure security and order, fight against all types of crimes, and maintain security in the border area, Na Meo Commune Police regularly stay close to the grassroots, proactively grasp the border situation, promptly detect, fight, and prevent all plots and sabotage activities of hostile forces. At the same time, promote propaganda, dissemination and legal education for the people through integration in village meetings. In particular, focus on clearly stating the methods and tricks of various types of crimes so that people know, raise vigilance and prevent.

Along with that, the commune police coordinated with officers and soldiers of the Na Meo International Border Post to develop a plan to patrol and protect the border and border markers and arrange for more officers and soldiers to go to the villages to effectively manage temporary residence and temporary absence, organize patrols to ensure security and order in the villages; proactively grasp the situation, review outstanding and urgent security and order issues in each village to have timely solutions. With many practical solutions and activities, in recent years, the political security situation, social order and safety in the commune have always been maintained; all types of crimes, social evils, and violations of the law have been controlled.

Thanh Hoa has 213.6km of border adjacent to Hua Phan province, Lao PDR, which is an important area for national defense - security, foreign affairs, with rugged terrain, harsh climate, and uneven educational level, so criminals often take advantage of it to operate. In that situation, the police force of the communes in the border area has always proactively advised the Party Committee and the government to develop and promulgate plans to ensure security and order in line with the actual situation of the locality, proposing specific and clear implementation measures; at the same time, strengthening coordination with functional agencies, deploying professional measures, effectively combating all types of crimes and law violations, ensuring security and order in the border areas and border gates.

From 2021 to present, the police force of the communes in the border area has detected and prosecuted 12 cases, 13 subjects for the crimes of illegal possession of explosives, brokerage, organizing for others to flee abroad, illegal possession of military weapons...; detected and handled 204 cases, 408 subjects for crimes against social order. Detected and handled 110 cases of foreigners entering the border area without a permit; investigated and handled more than 30 cases of illegal entry through the Thanh Hoa - Hua Phan (Laos) border area. Detected, fought and handled 663 cases; arrested and handled 910 subjects for drug crimes on the route...

Promoting the achieved results, the police force of the communes in the border areas continues to proactively advise the local Party Committee and authorities, coordinate with the border guards and mass organizations of the commune to do a good job of mobilizing and propagating to raise people's awareness; at the same time, strengthen patrols, control, grasp the local situation, and resolutely handle violations. Thereby, contributing to maintaining security in the border area, promoting local socio-economic development.
