Ethnic and Religious Affairs of Ho Chi Minh City

Kinhtedothi – On March 5th, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee held a conference to announce the Resolution establishing the Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions; and to present personnel appointment decisions.


Accordingly, the Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religion of Ho Chi Minh City was established by merging the Ethnic Affairs Committee under the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City and the Religious Affairs Committee under the Department of Internal Affairs of Ho Chi Minh City. The Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religion has two offices; office 1 is located at 177 Ly Chinh Thang Street, Vo Thi Sau Ward (District 3) and office 2 is located at 108 Ngo Quyen Street, Ward 7 (District 5).

The Director of the Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions of Ho Chi Minh City is Mr. Nguyen Duy Tan. There are five Deputy Directors: Mr. Huynh Van Hong Ngoc, Mr. Tran Xuan Dien, Mr. Tang Phuoc Loc, Mr. Dinh Van Hoa, and Ms. Dang Thi Tuyet Mai.

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions has 5 units, including the Office and 4 Professional Departments (1, 2, 3, and 4). Accordingly, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Nga holds the position of Chief of the Office; Mr. Nguyen Hoang Giang holds the position of Head of Professional Department 1; Mr. Tran Minh Duc and Mr. Lam Tuan Anh hold the positions of Deputy Heads of Professional Department 2 (currently without a Head); Mr. Tran Chi Vi holds the position of Head of Professional Department 3 and Mr. Nguyen Van Luong holds the position of Head of Professional Department 4.

The Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions is a specialized agency under the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City; it has legal personality, its own seal and bank account; it complies with the direction and management of the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City regarding organization, staffing and other activities, and at the same time complies with the direction, inspection and guidance on professional and technical matters from the Ministry of Ethnic Minorities and Religions and other relevant central ministries and agencies.

The functions, duties, and powers of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions are implemented in accordance with the regulations of the Government , the guidelines of the Ministry of Ethnic Minorities and Religions, relevant central ministries and agencies, and the regulations of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee.
