One weekend evening, a loud argument at the entrance to Kim Lien hamlet caused unease among residents. Within minutes, footage from the street's security cameras was transmitted to the local security and order team. Patrol officers quickly arrived and intervened, preventing the situation from escalating. Prior to this, the security camera system had also helped the commune police track the movements of a motorcycle thief, leading to his arrest that same night. These swift and accurate responses reflect the effectiveness of the "All People Protect National Security" movement in the area.

In rural areas with many deserted roads, limited personnel, and vast territories, the Giồng Riềng Commune Police determined that maintaining peace at the grassroots level required relying on and mobilizing the people. Therefore, the commune police innovated their methods of community outreach, coordinating with various organizations to form self-governing models, with the security camera system being a highlight. The funding for installing the cameras did not come from the budget but from the voluntary contributions of the people, their labor, and their trust.

To ensure the model's effectiveness, the commune police, in coordination with the Fatherland Front and other organizations, visited each household and family group to explain the benefits of security cameras, publicly disclose costs, and hold meetings with residents to agree on installation locations. Thanks to this scientific approach, tailored to the specific characteristics of rural areas, in a short time, residents and businesses contributed over 186 million VND, installing 14 cameras at 7 key locations, creating an important foundation for ensuring security and order at the grassroots level.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong Dieu, head of Kim Lien hamlet, said that the model spread quickly because people saw its effectiveness. One house installed it first, and then others, feeling reassured, followed suit. Mr. Tu Trong Tinh, residing in Hong Hanh hamlet, shared: “If the camera installed at my house helps my neighbors and the police officers in their duties, that's even better. I'm happy to contribute to maintaining security and order in the locality.”

Thanks to the consensus of the people, from October 2024 to the present, the security camera system has assisted in handling 6 traffic safety incidents, apprehending 4 car thieves, and preventing 2 violent gatherings involving weapons. Security cameras have also helped resolve many minor incidents that affect people's lives: theft of agricultural tools, littering along the roadside, etc. Thanks to clear images, incidents are resolved smoothly, preserving neighborly relations. Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Tan Dau - Deputy Head of the Giong Rieng Commune Police - affirmed: "The camera model actively supports the police force in managing the area, investigating, pursuing, and handling incidents. Disturbance and theft cases are handled quickly and accurately, contributing to improving the effectiveness of crime prevention and control in the locality."

In the coming period, the commune police will advise the People's Committee of the commune to expand the model, installing security cameras along border routes and entrances to the area. At the same time, they will encourage households with home cameras to connect their IDs to the common system to expand the monitoring range and improve crime prevention effectiveness.

Through the security camera model, Giồng Riềng is proving that skillful public mobilization is the key to the "All People Protect National Security" movement reaching new heights. When people trust and voluntarily cooperate, peace is maintained right from each hamlet, contributing to building a more civilized, safe, and developed rural area.
