The coach is working with the police for the second time.

Regarding the case of a taekwondo coach in Da Nang City being accused by parents of beating their students, at 1 PM on January 13th, in an interview with Thanh Nien newspaper, Mr. Nguyen Van Kin stated that he is currently at the Khue Trung Police Station (Cam Le District) to give his statement.

"I'm currently giving my statement at the police station. This is the second time I've been to the station to work with the police. The first time was on the evening of January 9th...", Mr. Kin told us over the phone while he was at the police station.

Also this afternoon (January 13th), a reporter from Thanh Nien newspaper was present at the Seung Ri Taekwondo Club (Ho Nguyen Truong Street, Khue Trung Ward, Cam Le District, Da Nang City), where Mr. Nguyen Van Kin is the head coach and club owner. Nearly 10 students were observed preparing to wrap banh chung (traditional Vietnamese rice cakes) for a Tet (Lunar New Year) charity event for an orphanage in Da Nang City. "We came to the club after school to help the coach wrap the banh chung for charity. Coach Kin is currently busy and away... we will have a training session this evening," said a female student.

In a related development, speaking to a reporter from Thanh Nien newspaper, Mr. NTH (residing in Hoa Xuan Ward, Cam Le District, Da Nang City) said that on the morning of January 13, his son, NTNM (13 years old), still went to school as usual.

"Currently, the child's mental state is unstable after the family filed a complaint. Therefore, the family cannot speak directly with the press yet; they are waiting for the results of the police investigation into the coach...", Mr. Hung informed.

According to NTH's parents, 24 hours after being beaten by the coach in the gym, the bruises on their son's body were still clearly visible. "NTNM is 1.48 meters tall and weighs 35 kg. He's very small... The family is currently very worried about his mental state," Mr. H added.

Previously, the Vietnam Taekwondo Federation received a complaint from Mr. NTH, the parent of student NTNM (13 years old), regarding his son being beaten by a coach during training at the SEUNG RI taekwondo club (Ho Nguyen Truong Street, Khue Trung Ward, Cam Le District, Da Nang City), where Mr. Nguyen Van Kin is the head coach and club owner.

According to the complaint, on the evening of January 9th, upon picking up his son and discovering signs of being beaten, Mr. NTH used his phone to photograph all the injuries on his son's body and reported the serious violation of child bodily integrity to the Da Nang city hotline. He then took his son to the Khue Trung Ward police station. The Khue Trung Ward police instructed Mr. NTH to take his son to the hospital for examination. After the examination, Mr. NTH brought his son back to the Khue Trung Ward police station to provide a detailed statement. In addition, Mr. NTH provided the phone number of Coach Nguyen Van Kin as requested by the police, and Coach Nguyen Van Kin was summoned for questioning that same evening, January 9th.

On the morning of January 13th, before working with the police, Coach Nguyen Van Kin posted an invitation on social media with the following content: “Dear parents and students, First of all, on behalf of Seung Ri Taekwondo Center, I would like to express my gratitude for all the trust, support, and encouragement given to the center over the past time.”

Currently, with over 200 students regularly attending classes at 3 locations, this is one of the factors that affirms the center's reputation and teaching quality throughout its formation and development. However, the center is currently facing a problem being spread on various information channels with incomplete content and perspectives, and without a conclusion from the relevant authorities.

The trainees are busy preparing banh chung (traditional Vietnamese rice cakes) for the Lunar New Year charity program.

In order to provide the most objective and honest perspective on the ongoing incident, the center would like to invite all parents and students to attend a discussion and sharing session on the matter. Time: 6 PM on January 13th. Location: 151/1 Ho Nguyen Truong (training room, facility 1). Content: Clearly present the center's viewpoint and direction for handling the situation. Answer questions and listen to feedback from parents and students. We sincerely hope to receive the attention of parents, which will help the center find the most appropriate approach and solution to this incident.”
