A masterpiece of nature in the heart of the ocean.
Located approximately 70km north of Quy Nhon city, Vi Rong Cape, in Tan Phung village, My Tho commune, Phu My district, is a magnificent natural landscape where the sky and land blend with the vast ocean, creating a captivating beauty. This place possesses a pristine, mysterious charm, largely untouched by human activity and retaining its original form created by nature thousands of years ago.
With its towering rock formations jutting out into the sea, Vi Rong Cape resembles a giant dragon stretching out to catch the wind, preparing to soar into the blue sky. The layers of stacked rocks, their strange shapes, and the powerful sound of crashing waves give visitors the feeling of stepping into a legendary land, a place where ancient stories converge.
According to Mr. Truong Ba Pha, head of Tan Phung 1 village, this place has been associated with many legends passed down orally through generations since ancient times. However, historical records do not fully document the story, making it even more mysterious and stimulating the curiosity of tourists from near and far.
Initially, Vi Rong Cape was just a pristine rock formation, shaped like fish scales, which locals called dragon scale rock.
Over time, erosion by seawater, wind, and waves has created a unique shape resembling a dragon's head, looking incredibly lifelike. As the sun begins to set, Vi Rong Cape is bathed in a brilliant orange-yellow hue, as if the dragon is transforming into a dragon within the sea, creating an unbelievably majestic scene.

Not only is it a beautiful natural landscape, Vi Rong Cape has also become a famous tourist destination in Binh Dinh province. According to Truong Minh Cuong, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of My Tho commune, thanks to the widespread sharing of images of Vi Rong Cape on social media, the number of tourists flocking here is increasing. This has helped change the lives of the people in Tan Phung village, as many households have started businesses such as homestays, food services, or opening tours for sightseeing, surfing, and fishing at sea.
Ms. Tong Thi Kim Hoang, a tourist from Long Xuyen, An Giang, shared: “My group of friends and I decided to choose Vi Rong Cape as one of our destinations on our journey through the central provinces, and this was absolutely the right decision. This place has a pristine, mysterious landscape, and the air is cool and fresh, allowing me to fully enjoy the beauty of nature.”
"I used to think Vi Rong Cape was just a simple rocky beach, but when I got there, I was truly overwhelmed. The deep blue sea, the smooth golden sand, and the layered rock formations create a beauty that is both powerful and poetic. All these elements combine to create a stunning picture, like something out of a European paradise," she said.
Transforming Vi Rong Cape into an attractive tourist destination.
Vi Rong Cape is beautiful not only in spring and summer, but even in winter, when the sea is rough and the waves are strong, it still attracts surfing enthusiasts, especially international tourists. A resident of Tan Phung village shared: "There are groups of 8-10 people who stay at my house for a whole week to surf. They love the challenge of the sea here. This not only helps me earn extra income but also provides opportunities to meet and connect with friends from all over the world."
Catherine Adams, a tourist from Australia, shared her experience visiting Dragon's Head Cape: "Upon arrival, I was immediately captivated by the powerful waves and stunning scenery. I'm a surfing enthusiast, and I was surprised to find waves big enough to challenge myself. Not only that, the locals were very friendly. I had a wonderful week here and will definitely be back."

Vi Rong Cape is also an ideal location for photographers, due to the ever-changing scenery. In the morning, the clear blue sky reflects onto the sea, while in the evening, the landscape is bathed in golden and red hues, creating truly artistic photographs.
According to Nguyen Thi Kim Chung, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Binh Dinh province, Vi Rong Cape has now been included in the official tourism map of Binh Dinh province. The local government is calling on businesses to invest in tourism, develop more experiential services, and plan the area as a sustainable destination. The People's Committee of Binh Dinh province aims to welcome 10 million tourists by 2025, including approximately 110,000 international visitors.
To achieve this, the province is stepping up promotion and improving service quality, while focusing on ecotourism and resort tourism, preserving the pristine, natural beauty of Vi Rong Cape. In addition, the province is focusing on training local people to become tour guides, helping them not only to earn extra income but also to become tourism ambassadors, introducing the cultural and natural beauty to international friends.
Vi Rong Cape is gradually becoming a tourism symbol of Binh Dinh, with its harmonious blend of natural beauty, historical elements, and ancient legends. It's not just a tourist destination, but also a place that preserves legendary stories, where people can truly feel the wonder of nature. With the right development strategies, Vi Rong Cape has the potential to become a leading tourist destination in Vietnam, attracting both domestic and international visitors.
