Lake Nui Coc, covering an area of 25 square kilometers across the cities of Thai Nguyen and Pho Yen and Dai Tu district (Thai Nguyen province), boasts lush green mountains, clear blue waters, legendary love stories, hundreds of large and small islands, and a pleasant climate. However, tourism has not developed to its full potential, representing a significant waste. A comprehensive solution is needed to exploit the tourism potential of this famous scenic spot.
Located not far from the center of Thai Nguyen city, with convenient access to the Hanoi -Thai Nguyen expressway, the vast Nui Coc Lake area, with its expansive and pristine lake, rolling hills, forests, and rolling tea plantations, boasts a cool climate and beautiful scenery, making it a highly potential destination for investment and attracting tourists seeking experiential, recreational, and relaxing experiences.
Despite being designated as a key national tourist area, the appearance of Nui Coc Lake tourism in recent years seems to have remained largely unchanged. There are still a few old hotels along the lake's edge; entertainment and culinary options are limited and monotonous; and the boats serving tourists are rudimentary and fail to meet the increasingly diverse and sophisticated needs of visitors. Therefore, most tourists only visit Nui Coc Lake once.
In recent years, the Nui Coc Lake area has seen investment projects, both from within and outside the state budget, including a very large project that society expected would fundamentally change the tourism environment of Nui Coc Lake due to its investment scale reaching tens of trillions of VND. However, these projects have all been unsuccessful; some have been abandoned, delayed, or are no longer suitable, requiring withdrawal or cancellation, resulting in considerable waste.
The reasons include investors lacking financial resources and experience, and developing tourism projects at Nui Coc Lake based on trends... Local people seem unprepared to embrace tourism activities, and there is a phenomenon where, when a tourism project is announced, people plant trees and build structures to "receive" compensation, causing concern among investors; the local government's "seed capital" for infrastructure investment to create incentives for tourism development is still limited.
The good news is that the Tan Thai golf course by Nui Coc Lake, with an investment of over 1,000 billion VND and covering nearly 100 hectares, is being designed and built to international standards and is being urgently implemented. Representatives of the investor stated that they are currently mobilizing maximum resources and personnel, including 150 vehicles and machines, and 250 foreign engineers, experts, and construction workers for the Tan Thai golf course.
Adjacent to the Tan Thai golf course is the Tan Thai high-class eco-tourism community village project, designed to attract high-income international and domestic tourists for relaxation and experiences, which is currently being prepared for implementation.
When put into operation in the near future, the Tan Thai golf course will offer beautiful views of Lake Nui Coc, inspiring players and tourists alike. At that time, the golf course will create jobs for several hundred people, contributing to the exploitation of Lake Nui Coc's tourism potential, spreading a tourism-oriented mindset among local people, and gradually promoting local socio-economic development.
However, Tan Thai Golf Course and Tan Thai Community Tourism Village are merely "lonely stars" in exploiting the enormous tourism potential of Nui Coc Lake. Many more diverse, high-quality tourism products, accommodation facilities, and culinary options are needed to satisfy, attract, and retain tourists.
To achieve this, a comprehensive master plan and a detailed tourism zoning plan for Lake Nui Coc are needed, along with large-scale investment in a road encircling the lake. This will provide a clear direction, practical basis, and legal framework to create an attractive investment environment and promote the development of tourism around Lake Nui Coc.
Investors want local authorities to invest in infrastructure outside the tourism project boundaries, such as connecting roads, electricity, and water; and to expedite administrative procedures and land conversion to facilitate investment projects.
Through this, the tourism potential of this scenic spot will be awakened, creating high-quality tourism products to attract tourists to visit, experience, have fun, and relax, thereby promoting socio-economic development.
