Rice prices are low.

Báo Cần ThơBáo Cần Thơ19/08/2025

(CT) - Recently, the prices of some common rice varieties have remained stable, but the prices of some fragrant rice varieties have decreased by about 100-200 VND/kg compared to a month ago. The prices of most rice varieties in the Mekong Delta are currently 1,100-2,200 VND/kg lower than the same period in 2024. Common rice varieties such as IR 50404, OM 380… are being sold by farmers in many areas to traders and businesses at 5,700-5,900 VND/kg. The price of fresh OM 5451 rice is at 5,900-6,000 VND/kg in many places. The price of fragrant rice varieties such as Nang Hoa 9, OM 18 and Dai Thom 8 is at 6,100-6,400 VND/kg. Recently, export rice prices have fallen, and domestic consumption of many types of rice has also slowed down. As a result, many small traders and businesses have reduced the purchase price for some types of paddy rice.

An Phuoc plums fetch a high price.

(CT) - Currently, the price of An Phuoc plums in many localities in the Mekong Delta has increased 2-3 times compared to the first months of the year and is at a fairly high level. Farmers in many areas are selling An Phuoc plums to traders and fruit wholesalers at 27,000-30,000 VND/kg, while in February and March 2025 the price was only 10,000-14,000 VND/kg. An Phuoc plums are being retailed at many fruit stalls and supermarkets at 50,000-55,000 VND/kg. Besides domestic consumption, An Phuoc plums are also exported to several foreign markets.

The price of An Phuoc plums has increased due to rising consumer demand and a recent decrease in supply, as plum harvesting has ended in many areas, and farmers in many places have cut down plum trees to switch to other crops.

Ido lychee prices rise again.

(CT) - Currently, the price of Ido longan in many localities in the Mekong Delta has increased again by at least 6,000-10,000 VND/kg compared to more than a month ago. On August 18th, Ido longan was sold by farmers in Can Tho City and neighboring provinces in the Mekong Delta to traders at 18,000-20,000 VND/kg. At this price, Ido longan farmers can ensure profits. The price increase is due to increased demand for Ido longan for domestic consumption and export. Currently, the supply of Ido longan in many localities has decreased compared to last month. At this time, many types of fruit in the Southern region have finished their main harvest season, creating favorable conditions for increased consumption of Ido longan.
