Active trade union officials

At 65 years old, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong Hanh, Chairwoman of the Trade Union at Dinh Khue One-Member Limited Company (Tan Thanh commune), remains dynamic. Ms. Hanh was formerly the Chairwoman of the People's Committee of Suoi Day commune, Tan Chau district, and retired in 2015. With a passion for community activities, she continued working at the company as a human resources manager. In 2016, she was elected Chairwoman of the company's Trade Union, a position she holds to this day.

For nearly 10 years, with her accumulated expertise, Ms. Hanh, along with the company director, has reformed the organizational structure to create a more friendly and safer working environment. As a result, the company has become more organized, ensuring the correct and complete implementation of policies, contributing to improving the material and spiritual lives of union members and employees.

Ms. Pham Thi Cam Nhung has served as the Chairwoman of the Trade Union at Hansae TN Co., Ltd. (Linh Trung III Export Processing Zone, An Tinh Ward) for six years. According to Ms. Nhung, the trade union acts as a "bridge" between employees and the company. Through the trade union, the concerns and aspirations of employees are promptly conveyed to the management, enabling them to implement policies and regulations that address and meet their legitimate needs. That's why Ms. Nhung enjoys this work, even though it's a dual role, meaning she has more responsibilities.

According to Ms. Nhung, when the trade union operates effectively and brings benefits to its members and workers, that is a source of happiness for her. She feels that her work is very meaningful when the union's "arm" reaches out to share and help those members and workers who are still facing difficulties. "Thanks to working with the trade union, I've become more attached to and understand the workers better. Helping workers makes me feel truly happy," Ms. Nhung shared.

Mr. Nguyen Qui Hoang has served as the Chairman of the Trade Union at Tran Hiep Thanh Textile Joint Stock Company (Trang Bang Industrial Park, An Tinh Ward, Tay Ninh Province) for nine years. As a diligent and creative trade union official, Mr. Hoang has made suggestions and advised the management board on improving the working environment, regulations, and policies for employees. Trade union activities are regularly maintained and their forms are innovated to suit each period. Mr. Hoang shared: “To make trade union activities effective, officials must know how to innovate, not follow old ways, and must know how to listen to the needs and aspirations of union members.”

As the chairperson of the grassroots trade union, I believe that if I do a good job in union work, the awareness of the workers will also improve. Good union activities will also bring about productivity and efficiency in production.”

And practical suggestions

At Dinh Khue One-Member Limited Company, the rights and policies for employees are currently guaranteed, including wages, insurance benefits, and workplace safety. The company's trade union also actively organizes themed activities for its members and employees. With the company's tradition of regularly participating in social welfare work both within and outside the local area, union members and employees actively contribute to organizing programs such as donating books, notebooks, and scholarships to students, as well as blood donation drives.

From 2016 to the present, the Trade Union of Dinh Khue One-Member Limited Company has been the leading unit among enterprises in the former Tan Chau district; receiving numerous flags and certificates of merit from the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, the province, and the district. Ms. Hanh is also an outstanding trade union official with many commended achievements. In 2023, she was one of the trade union delegates from the former Tay Ninh province to participate in the 13th National Congress of the Vietnam Trade Union in Hanoi . This is an honor for Ms. Hanh, a trade union official who remains dynamic regardless of age, contributing to creating a better working environment for workers.

Ms. Hanh shared: “Having held many positions and interacted with many people, I understand the difficulties and hardships, so whenever I can do something to help others, I am always willing. In my role as the chairperson of the grassroots trade union, I believe that if I do a good job in trade union work, the awareness of the workers will also improve. Good trade union activities will also bring productivity and efficiency to production.”

For many years, Ms. Nhung, along with the Trade Union Executive Committee, has advised the management on implementing policies to care for female workers at the company. As a garment manufacturing company with approximately 80% female workers, the Trade Union has always prioritized proposing various policies for female employees. These include reducing heavy workloads for pregnant women, providing financial support for raising young children, and training in soft skills such as communication, problem-solving, decision-making, time management, and stress reduction. These policies have brought joy to female workers and demonstrated the management's concern. The Trade Union also proposed a bonus policy for sewing lines that exceeded production targets. This encouraged employees to strive to exceed production targets, reducing the rate of employee turnover and absenteeism.

Over the years, the achievements of the company's trade union and Ms. Nhung have been recognized and rewarded by provincial and national labor federations. Ms. Nhung expressed: "I am quite satisfied with the policies and welfare benefits that the company is providing for its union members and employees. In the future, I and the Trade Union Executive Committee will continue to advise and implement more practical and meaningful policies, welfare benefits, and activities."

Creating a "happy" working environment for union members and employees has always been a goal of the Trade Union and Tran Hiep Thanh Textile Joint Stock Company. The union president has made significant contributions to implementing policies and programs that care for union members and employees, creating a friendly and safe working environment. The monthly "Happy Meal" program has fostered a sense of belonging among members. Activities supporting employees' children with good academic achievements are maintained, helping them feel secure and focused on their work. The company's grassroots trade union also organizes dialogue sessions between union members, employees, and the management board to listen to feedback and improve the working environment, policies, and regulations. According to surveys, the level of satisfaction among union members and employees at the company increases every year.

Mr. Hoang shared: “Trade union officials must know how to protect the legitimate rights and interests of union members and workers. In difficult times, in addition to sharing, trade union officials also know how to guide workers so they can stabilize their lives.”
