Investing in health

Health is always the most precious asset of every individual and the foundation for the sustainable development of every nation. The Party and State of Vietnam consistently consider the protection, care, and improvement of people's health as a top priority. A prime example is the recent issuance of Resolution No. 72-NQ/TW by the Politburo on breakthrough solutions to strengthen people's healthcare.

Beyond treating diseases, Resolution No. 72-NQ/TW places emphasis on disease prevention, improving physical fitness, and providing comprehensive healthcare for the people, encompassing physical and mental well-being, nutrition, and living environment. This represents a significant shift in thinking, aligning with global trends and the realities in Vietnam, where emerging infectious diseases, non-communicable diseases, and the increasing pressure of an aging population are becoming more apparent.

Furthermore, the resolution also emphasizes breakthrough solutions regarding: improving the quality of the primary healthcare system, investing in preventive healthcare, and reforming healthcare financing to ensure people receive equitable and sustainable services; developing high-quality healthcare human resources; promoting the application of science and technology, digital transformation, and especially fostering healthy lifestyles in the community. These solutions not only address immediate problems but also lay the foundation for a "Healthy Vietnam by 2030, with a vision to 2045".

As Vietnam enters a new era, building a healthy, capable, and intelligent workforce will contribute to increased labor productivity, competitiveness, and national strength. Therefore, investing in health is investing in the future.

To realize the goals of the aforementioned resolution, the role of each individual citizen is crucial. Every citizen needs to proactively build a healthy lifestyle, with balanced diet, limiting alcohol and tobacco use, increasing physical activity, and maintaining personal and environmental hygiene. These are the first "barriers" to preventing diseases, especially non-communicable diseases.

Furthermore, physical exercise and sports training should become a daily habit for everyone, especially the younger generation, in order to create a generation of healthy citizens capable of shouldering the responsibility of building the nation.
