The conference was attended by a large number of domestic and international delegates. At the conference, the World Tourism Awards (WTA) organization honored Ha Nam province with the title of "Asia's Leading Emerging Tourist Destination".
To achieve this honor, Ha Nam province surpassed 10 other candidates, all famous landmarks from 8 countries: Brunei, Philippines, Thailand, Malaysia, Cambodia, Taiwan (China), Indonesia (2 landmarks), and Japan (2 landmarks).
Also at the conference, the People's Committee of Ha Nam province signed cooperation agreements for tourism development and awarded investment decisions and certificates to investors in this field. Exactly one year ago, Ha Nam was honored for the first time by the WTA organization with the title of "World's Leading Local Cultural Destination 2023".

In 2023, Ha Nam welcomed over 4 million tourists, generating over 3,000 billion VND in tourism revenue. In the first nine months of 2024 alone, Ha Nam received approximately 4.2 million tourists, with total tourism revenue exceeding 3,200 billion VND. This is a positive sign contributing to the province's socio-economic development, thereby creating momentum for the development of other sectors and fields.
Located in the Northern Delta economic region, with its diverse topography of limestone mountains and caves, combined with a hot, humid tropical climate and abundant rainfall, Ha Nam boasts many unique landscapes and famous scenic spots. The province has a dense network of rivers and lakes, with the poetic beauty of the Red River, Day River, Chau River, Nhue River, and Tam Chuc Lake; its typical lowland agricultural ecosystem possesses unique characteristics.
Ha Nam's humanistic tourism resources boast many outstanding values, demonstrated through its system of 230 classified relics: 97 national-level relics (including 2 classified as special national relics), and 133 provincial-level relics. The province currently has 209 traditional folk festivals and more than 40 unique and long-standing handicraft villages.
Ha Nam is a land of scholarly achievements, boasting famous figures in history such as Tam Nguyen Yen Do Nguyen Khuyen; the martyr and realist writer Nam Cao; and the Bui family, who achieved high academic success.
The heroic land of Ha Nam boasts numerous historical sites and revolutionary bases, home to generations of heroes and valiant figures who rose up throughout the nation's history of fighting against foreign invaders. Ha Nam's cuisine is rustic and deeply rooted in the spirit of the lowland countryside, featuring dishes like rice rolls, braised fish, rice crackers with snakehead fish, and fragrant rice. Ha Nam holds a strategically important position, situated on vital transportation routes and close to major economic centers such as Hanoi, Nam Dinh, and Ninh Binh. Its proximity to major tourist destinations like Huong Pagoda (Hanoi) and Bai Dinh - Trang An (Ninh Binh) facilitates the connection and development of inter-regional tourism products.
Ha Nam has many opportunities to develop a qualified tourism infrastructure system: Currently, the province has more than 200 accommodation establishments with nearly 4,000 rooms, including 3 five-star hotels, 4 three-star hotels, 19 two-star hotels, 129 guesthouses meeting the minimum requirements for tourism accommodation business, and more than 30 domestic travel agencies. Ha Nam has great potential and advantages to develop diverse and attractive types of tourism; tourism in Ha Nam has the potential to become a key economic sector.
In recent years, tourism in Ha Nam has developed quite rapidly. Many tourist areas and destinations have been planned, and key tourism projects continue to receive investment in infrastructure development and product development. In particular, the Tam Chuc National Tourist Area, along with 14 other tourist destinations in the province, has been recognized as a breakthrough point to strongly promote tourism development in Ha Nam in the coming years, while also opening up avenues for tourism linkages with major tourism centers in the region such as Hanoi, Ninh Binh, Nam Dinh, Thai Binh, Quang Ninh, and Hai Phong.
With appropriate and firm directions, Ha Nam is actively implementing Resolution No. 82/NQ-CP, dated May 18, 2023, of the Government on "key tasks and solutions to accelerate the recovery and development of tourism effectively and sustainably" in the direction of "Unique products - Professional services - Convenient and simple procedures - Competitive prices - Clean and beautiful environment - Safe, civilized and friendly destination", contributing to creating a breakthrough in socio-economic development for the province in particular and the entire southern Red River Delta region in general.
To develop sustainable tourism, Ha Nam needs to effectively implement the "Master Plan for Tourism Development of Ha Nam Province to 2030, with a vision to 2050"; organize and manage the plan to ensure the sustainability of tourism resources and the tourism environment. At the same time, it is necessary to develop detailed plans for new tourist areas and destinations, and review and supplement the plans for approved tourist areas and destinations; advise on the development and promulgation of policies and mechanisms to encourage the socialization of tourism, create an attractive investment environment, and attract non-budgetary capital for tourism and service development.
Based on the main orientations in developing the tourist market; tourism products; methods of organizing tour spaces, routes, areas, and tourist destinations; and developing tourism clusters, Ha Nam province has focused on building many mechanisms and policies for tourism development; implementing solutions to diversify and improve the quality of tourism products; promoting tourism; boosting investment; linking economic sectors and localities; and mobilizing resources to create a breakthrough in the province's tourism development.

Ha Nam province is also reviewing, developing, and adjusting development plans for historical and cultural relics and craft villages, as a basis for attracting investment in tourism development, with the aim of linking them into inter-provincial and intra-provincial tourism-service chains, such as: Lanh Giang Temple - Nha Xa silk weaving village; Doi Son Pagoda - Doi Tam drum-making village (Duy Tien); Ba Danh Pagoda, Quyet Thanh pottery village (Kim Bang)...
Ha Nam is actively improving its investment and business environment and enhancing its competitiveness; especially by developing policies and mechanisms to encourage businesses and individuals to invest in tourism development and create new tourism products that are unique to Ha Nam and attractive to domestic and international tourists; creating favorable conditions and prioritizing investment in the development of tourism human resources. It supports, connects, and encourages organizations and individuals to train and cultivate tourism human resources in the province; conducts market research, gathers information on tourist trends; develops tourism promotion and advertising programs suitable for each stage and target group, especially international markets; and promotes digital transformation and the application of science and technology in the management, promotion, and development of the tourism sector.
Ha Nam province has always prioritized the development of tourism in a professional, sustainable, and focused manner, based on the potential and strengths of each region. In the immediate future, the province will continue to invest in infrastructure and facilities for its tourist areas, aiming for international standards and scale. The Tam Chuc Tourist Area construction project plays a particularly important role and holds significant importance.
With the successful organization of the 2024 Ha Nam Province Tourism Development Investment Promotion Conference, along with synchronized investment, the construction progress of the Tam Chuc Tourist Area project has been accelerated, thereby creating more opportunities and impetus to promote the rapid and strong development of tourism in Ha Nam.
