Hanoi city leaders attend the Spring Tree Planting Festival 2024 in Dong Da district.

Over the years, Soc Son district has been one of the most active participants in Hanoi's Spring Tree Planting Festival. According to statistics, in 2024, the district planted a total of 28,553 trees of various types.

The results reached 190.3% of the district's plan and 259.6% of the plan assigned by Hanoi City. The percentage of trees growing and developing well also exceeded 95%.

According to Do Minh Tuan, Vice Chairman of the Soc Son District People's Committee, the district aims to plant 15,000 new trees of various types in 2025 and to properly care for and protect the existing forest area.

"In addition to the quotas assigned to communes, towns, and districts, we request that units encourage people to plant more fruit trees and green trees throughout the year according to the seasons..." - Mr. Do Minh Tuan further informed.

Meanwhile, in Phuc Tho district, the Tet Tree Planting Festival, in remembrance of President Ho Chi Minh, has become a beautiful tradition of the people in the district. Building on this fine tradition, in 2025, Phuc Tho district will continue to develop and issue a plan, striving to plant at least 12,000 new trees of various types this year.

According to Can Van Hong, Head of the Economic Department of Phuc Tho District, the district will plant 185 new black star trees along the Bridge 7 road (Tam Thuan commune) at the launching ceremony scheduled for the morning of February 5, 2025. The People's Committees of communes and towns, as well as agencies and units, will plant at least 11,815 more trees of various types.

Along with Soc Son and Phuc Tho districts, 28 other districts, towns, and cities in Hanoi have already planned to organize the Spring Tree Planting Festival in 2025, with the general spirit of being solemn, economical, practical, and effective. The planting will be combined with care to ensure the best possible growth and development of the trees.

According to statistics from the Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, in 2024, the entire city planted 481,000 new trees, achieving 103% of the plan set at the beginning of the year. This result contributes to creating a green, clean, and beautiful ecological environment for the capital city.

To contribute to the development of Hanoi into a "Cultural - Civilized - Modern," green, and smart city, as defined in the Hanoi Capital City Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, the Hanoi City People's Committee recently issued Plan No. 383/KH-UBND, aiming to plant 700,000 new trees of various types in 2025.

It is expected that during the spring planting campaign of the Year of the Snake 2025, the entire city will plant 120,000 - 150,000 new trees. Recommended tree species include Spondias mombin, flamboyant, crape myrtle, camphor, milkwood, Osaka, Northwest Bauhinia, green lim, pine, acacia, flowering lat, Terminalia catappa, and black star…

According to the Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (the unit in charge of implementing the Spring Tree Planting Festival 2025), currently, based on Plan No. 383/KH-UBND of the Hanoi People's Committee, the unit has coordinated and guided departments, agencies, and localities to develop specific plans to organize the launching ceremony of the "Tree Planting Festival to forever remember President Ho Chi Minh," ensuring that the set schedule is met.

The Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has also provided guidance on selecting suitable crops based on the climate and soil conditions of each locality, prioritizing tested species, multi-purpose trees, large timber trees, landscape trees, shade trees, and rare and valuable timber trees.

In conjunction with organizing the tree planting festival in accordance with the general spirit, the Hanoi People's Committee requested that after the tree planting is implemented, units and localities conduct inspections, evaluations, and draw lessons learned. At the same time, they should promptly commend and reward organizations and individuals with achievements in tree planting and reforestation...
