Let every day be "Mother's Day"

Mother's Day isn't celebrated annually, usually on the second Sunday of May. People express their love for their mothers in various ways, whether it's through well wishes, visits, encouragement, or practical gifts from the heart. Whether material or spiritual, everyone shares the same wish: for their mothers to be happy and joyful.

Because she lives far from home, every year on Mother's Day, Tran Thi Phuong, a student at the National Economics University, usually sends loving messages to her mother via phone, sometimes even sending gifts to surprise her. Her mother has always carefully preserved the gifts Phuong has given her, whether they were handmade or expensive.

Phuong's mother was a teacher at Lao Cai City High School No. 2, but she resigned four years ago to receive medical treatment. Despite knowing she was ill, Phuong's mother didn't show any signs of discouragement or negativity.

To help her mother overcome her illness, Phuong proactively talked and confided in her mother more often. “I often asked my mother random questions about various topics, then wrote down all her answers in the notes section of my phone: her shoe size, her favorite colors, her favorite flowers, the prescription of her glasses… Not only was it a way for me to talk to my mother more, but it also made it easier for me to choose gifts she would love for special occasions,” Phuong shared.

As we grow older, we experience a wider range of emotions in life: familial love, romantic love, friendship, loyalty... However, none can surpass a mother's love, a love higher than mountains and deeper than the ocean. Mothers are always selfless, protective, supportive, and caring for us unconditionally. The hustle and bustle of life keeps us busy with many things to do and many things to worry about, leaving little time to be with our parents, sometimes even neglecting to care for them. Yet, the gift a mother desires to receive is often not just for us.

Mrs. Nguyen Thi Minh Loan, residing in Pom Han ward (Lao Cai city), takes her grandchild for a walk and plays with him every afternoon of the week before returning home to prepare dinner. Despite the hard work, Mrs. Loan is always cheerful because she is helping her children and taking care of her grandchild.

If a child's happiness makes each day special for their mother, then gifts are a way for children to express their love and gratitude to their mother. Ms. Phan Thi Dung, Mrs. Loan's daughter-in-law, said: "My husband and I work in the police force; our jobs are busy, and we rarely have meals at home with my mother. I'm a quiet person and hesitant to express my love to my mother and my mother-in-law, even though I really want to. This year's Mother's Day is more special because my husband and I organized a small party for both our families to gather. We gave our two mothers secret gifts to convey our feelings and took commemorative photos together."

There are two things in life you shouldn't miss: the last train home, and someone who truly loves you. Conveniently, the journey home will help you achieve both – a true home is where your mother is. You don't need to wait for Mother's Day to express your love for your mother. If you love and care for her, then all 365 days of the year will be Mother's Day.
