Risk of fire and explosion

Since the beginning of the year, the city has experienced numerous fires causing significant property damage and affecting the lives and morale of its residents.

Typically, on the morning of July 8th, a fabric warehouse on Nguyen Dinh Tuu Street (An Khe Ward) caught fire. More than 6 specialized vehicles along with dozens of officers and soldiers from Firefighting and Rescue Team Area 4 ( thuộc Da Nang City Police) were mobilized to the scene.

Because the warehouse contained a large amount of fabric scraps, the fire spread rapidly, accompanied by thick black smoke. Authorities had to break down the doors, wear gas masks, and approach the blaze in multiple teams to control it.

By noon the same day, the fire was completely extinguished, but all the fabric in the warehouse was destroyed. Fortunately, there were no casualties.

Ms. Ha Ngoc Thuy (Hoa Xuan ward) said that the risk of fire and explosion is always present, especially in residential areas, apartment buildings, and factories.

Every citizen needs to proactively raise awareness, regularly check the electrical systems in their homes, and strictly comply with fire prevention and fighting regulations.

Authorities need to intensify public awareness campaigns, provide training on handling emergency situations, and equip people with knowledge about fire prevention and firefighting.

According to the Fire and Rescue Team of Region 4, since the beginning of the year, the unit has received and handled 9 fire incidents with property damage of approximately 200 million VND, fortunately with no casualties. Most of the fires occurred in residential areas and factories, mainly due to electrical short circuits.

To raise public awareness, the unit organized more than 10 sessions to disseminate legal information on fire prevention and control, and provide guidance on escape skills and handling fire and explosion situations for residents, small business owners, and workers.

In addition, the force coordinated with localities to implement 223 "Safe Neighborhood Fire Prevention and Control Team" models, 783 "Public Fire Fighting Points" and 177 "Initial Fire Fighting Points", contributing to improving self-prevention and self-management capabilities in fire prevention and control at the grassroots level.

Improve prevention skills.

Lieutenant Colonel Ngo Van Thuong, Head of the Firefighting and Rescue Team Area 4, said that forecasts indicate that the hot weather will continue to be complex in the coming period, leading to a high risk of fires and explosions in residential areas, apartment buildings, industrial zones, and markets.

Citizens, businesses, market management boards, and small traders need to be vigilant and raise their awareness and responsibility in fire prevention and control, paying particular attention to the safe use of electricity.

Many fires in recent times have been caused by electrical short circuits or overloading. In many traditional markets that have been built a long time ago, the old electrical systems easily increase the risk of short circuits.

In addition, some people and small business owners are careless in their use of fire. Many cases of burning incense, burning votive paper, or smoking easily lead to fires and explosions.

According to the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department (Da Nang City Police), from the beginning of the year until now, there have been 34 fires in the city, causing no casualties and property damage of approximately 460 million VND. Compared to the same period in 2024, the number of fires decreased by 19. The police force deployed 94 vehicles and 618 officers and soldiers to the scene to directly fight the fires.

Most fires are caused by electrical short circuits and negligence in the use of electricity.

According to representatives from the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department, in order to ensure effective fire prevention, firefighting, and rescue operations in the area, the unit will proactively follow the directives and plans of the Ministry of Public Security , the City Party Committee, the City People's Council, the City People's Committee, and the City Police Department. This includes focusing on fire prevention and firefighting skills training; conducting fire drills in markets and residential areas; and promoting the use of portable fire extinguishers.

In addition, the police regularly inspect, remind, and handle cases of violations due to failure to ensure fire safety.

In addition, instruct officers and soldiers to enhance their sense of responsibility, vigilance, and readiness 24/7, ensuring the availability of equipment and resources to effectively carry out firefighting, rescue, and relief operations in the event of an incident.
