Tran Anh Minh (12th grade, Ngoc Hoi High School, Thanh Tri, Hanoi ) shared that she is a little worried about Literature because it's not her strong point, and the exam will be based on texts not found in the textbook, meaning there will be no "model essays." However, Literature is not included in Minh's university entrance exam combination, so she doesn't put too much pressure on herself in this subject. Instead, she focuses on thoroughly studying the types of questions her teacher has taught in class, while dedicating most of her time to improving her scores in Math, Physics, and English.
“The new aspect of the exam is the inclusion of real-life problems, but I'm not too worried because during the course, the teachers emphasized incorporating real-life situations to help us become familiar with them and improve our reading comprehension skills. During this time, I mainly focus on practicing with sample questions and correcting common mistakes to learn from them, avoiding overly difficult problems. My goal is to be confident in each step, avoid losing points on easy questions, and try my best on the difficult ones,” Minh expressed.
Many schools have now finished their in-person review sessions, while some high schools have stated that the review period will officially end on June 20th. However, whether studying at home or at school, students always receive support from their subject teachers. Mr. Nguyen Duc Ky, Vice Principal of Han Thuyen High School ( Bac Ninh province), said that teachers are always enthusiastic and make the most of their time to review with students, whether at school or through online platforms. Not only do they review basic to advanced topics, but teachers also prioritize answering students' questions to help them maximize their potential and achieve the highest possible exam results.
This year's final review period for 12th graders also marks the first year of implementing Circular 29 with new regulations on tutoring and supplementary classes. Therefore, in addition to the support and guidance from schools and teachers, candidates are also enhancing their self-study and self-review efforts.
Mr. Nguyen Trong Nguyen, an English teacher at the Hocmai education system, noted that with the new exam format, students' learning and preparation also need to change. In this countdown to the exam, students can choose practice tests that closely resemble the sample tests provided by the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) and complete timed tests within 50 minutes to prepare themselves for peak performance in the actual exam. Always remember to carefully check all answers, review any incorrect or unanswered questions, and take notes on any issues that arise. For reading comprehension specifically, carefully translate the entire passage to answer the questions correctly.
Regarding Literature, Ms. Pham Thi Lich from Dao Duy Tu High School (Thanh Hoa City) said that in the period from now until the exam, students should focus on systematizing their knowledge instead of studying broadly. Along with that, maintaining good health, a positive attitude, avoiding comparing scores with friends, and believing in themselves are extremely important. Families need to support and encourage candidates with a positive spirit so that they can confidently overcome the challenges.
2025 marks the first year the high school graduation exam will be held according to the 2018 General Education Program. The exam will not only test pure knowledge but also emphasize students' ability to apply what they learn. Therefore, in addition to mastering the knowledge and skills according to the curriculum, experts advise candidates to pay special attention to their ability to relate the material to real-world situations in order to achieve the best results.
