The night is illuminated by lights on the border of our homeland.

TP - As night falls in the border communes of Sa Loong and Duc Nong (Quang Ngai province), the lights on the construction sites of the inter-level primary and secondary boarding schools still shine brightly amidst the mountains and forests. Hundreds of workers take turns working overtime, racing against time to complete the new schools so that students in the border region can have a spacious and stable place to study before the new school year begins.

Night lights on the construction site

From 6:30 PM to around 9:30 PM, there was almost no break at the construction site of the Sa Loong Primary and Secondary Boarding School. The sounds of metal cutting machines, hammers, and concrete mixers echoed continuously in the night in this border region. Groups of workers took turns working on each item to meet the set deadline, contributing to the project's completion before the new school year.

In the rebar fabrication area, Mr. Ha Van Khuom bends down close to each joint to check the dimensions before welding it in place. According to Mr. Khuom, this is a stage that requires high precision because even a small deviation can affect the quality of the construction.

“Since the beginning of the year, working night shifts has become almost a habit. On average, I work a night shift every two days, lasting about three hours. We know it’s hard work, but everyone is trying their best because we hope the school will be completed soon so that students in the border region can have a new, spacious, and better place to study,” said Khuom.

Not only in Sa Loong, but also at the Duc Nong Primary and Secondary Boarding School (Duc Nong commune), construction continues throughout the night. More than 40 workers are divided into several teams, responsible for different tasks across the project's seven buildings. Accompanying the workers is a team of engineers who are always on standby, closely monitoring each construction item, regularly checking technical aspects, and promptly addressing any issues to ensure the quality of the project.

In a corner of the construction site, Mr. Nguyen Van Bay was still diligently laying the final rows of bricks even though it was past 8 PM. His calloused hands moved swiftly, applying mortar and aligning each brick perfectly.

“Since the foundation work was completed, the construction unit has organized three shifts and four teams to ensure the progress. On average, about 50 workers work continuously every night. In addition to their wages, the workers also receive overtime pay, which gives them extra motivation. Everyone hopes the project will be finished soon so that students in the border region can have a new school,” Mr. Bay shared.

As the night deepens in the border region, under the construction site lights, the workers continue toiling with bags of cement, steel bars, and bricks to meet the set deadline. For them, each completed task tonight means that the day when students in the border region can attend classes in new schools is drawing closer.

Bringing under control the forest fire at Cuc Phuong National Park.On the afternoon of June 4th, Cuc Phuong National Park announced that the forest fire in sub-area 10 under its management had been completely brought under control. The affected forest area is estimated at approximately 0.8 hectares, and the initial cause is believed to be a lightning strike.

The goal is to complete this before the new school year begins.

Mr. Tran Dang Khoa, Deputy Director of the Duc Nong Primary and Secondary Boarding School project, said that the unit has mobilized approximately 250 workers along with many machines and equipment to organize construction day and night. Depending on the stage and weather conditions, the teams are flexibly deployed. On average, about 40-50 workers work each evening from 5 PM to 9 PM.

According to Mr. Khoa, not all tasks are carried out at night. Parts requiring complex technical skills or high safety standards are prioritized for daytime construction. Stages such as wall construction, rebar fabrication, formwork erection, or concrete pouring are scheduled for evening shifts to maximize time.

"Workers who work night shifts face quite difficult conditions, so the company tries to ensure adequate living conditions, food, and support so they can work with peace of mind," Mr. Khoa said.

At the Sa Loong Primary and Secondary Boarding School project, construction work has also been intensified. Project manager Nguyen Tuan Dat stated that the unit has deployed three rotating construction teams, each with approximately 50 workers.

"Thanks to the simultaneous deployment of multiple construction teams, the project has now completed approximately 51% of the planned workload. Overtime work is organized systematically, with clear assignments for each item. The goal is to ensure both progress and strict quality control," Mr. Dat said.

In Quang Ngai province , nine boarding schools for primary and secondary levels have been started, with a total investment of over 1,700 billion VND, managed by the Provincial Project Management Board for Investment and Construction of Transportation, Civil and Industrial Works. To date, construction progress for four schools in Duc Nong, Mo Rai, Sa Loong, and Ro Koi communes has reached 33-57%.

Construction will take place from December 29, 2025 to July 31, 2026. For the remaining five schools in Ia Tơi, Ia Đal, Bờ Y, Đăk Long, and Đăk Plô communes, relevant authorities and the investor are finalizing the necessary procedures, with construction expected to begin in July 2026.

In addition to manpower, contractors also proactively prepare supplies and materials to avoid construction disruptions. Any difficulties arising during implementation are coordinated and resolved on-site to minimize impact on the overall schedule.

However, according to Mr. Tan, the requirements are not only about the progress but also about ensuring absolute labor safety and construction quality. "The goal is to complete the projects on time, or even ahead of schedule, so that students in border areas can study in new, spacious schools as early as the next school year," Mr. Tan emphasized.
